Congratulations to Pearl Grant, Manchester, for being the December 20 winner of CAS’s 50/50 draw. Pearl’s winning ticket was worth $224.00. (Thanks to all who bought tickets – and to those involved in the selling of the 50/50 tickets.)
If you wish to purchase or to sell tickets: contact a club member, come to the club, or buy tickets at Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant; Cutting Loose Hair Design & Tanning; Guysborough Pharmacy; Gerard Hart’s Grocery Store; Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s; Chedabucto Home Hardware or Guysborough Discount & Gifts. CAS sincerely thanks the before-mentioned businesses for their continued support. (The businesses’ sold-tickets are collected mid-afternoons on Fridays.)
With the wish to have a larger draw, CAS will occasionally be drawing at the usual 8:00 PM on Fridays but will be occasionally doing the draws after a couple weeks of selling. Refer to our website for updates on draws and the names of winners. www.chedabuctocc.ca
From my home to yours: the very best of Holiday wishes and for good health in 2014.
I am pleased to inform you that Joe Jamieson has agreed to be one of our Club’s Junior League coaches. Joe and Shawna Cody will be working with the youngsters to pass on their skills and enjoyment of the sport.
This week, and for the next three, in the Guysborough Journal there will be Junior Curling information within the “Community Calendar” section as well as notices going to homes this week via the school.
Thank you to the MODG Recreation Department for their assistance to distribute the Club’s notices. The school is also acknowledged for distributing the notices in addition to agreeing to include the curling registration date for January 6 within its Monday Flash (also January 6).
Please spread the good news about the Junior Curling; if you know of anyone who might enjoy joining the league give them your encouragement. Should a family need financial assistance to join there is assistance available via the MODG Recreation Department (Christina Connolly).

With feedback from parents and the MODG Recreation Department, the Club is going to attempt again to get the Junior League curling started immediately after New Year’s. Junior curlers can be ages 10 – 20 thus the league is not restricted to only the younger players.
I met with Angie Traverse, MODG Director of Recreation, yesterday and am going back to the school on Friday. The plan at this time is to send notices home with students and to also have a Juniors’ registration night at the Chedabucto Curling Club on Monday, January 6, from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM..
Shawna Cody has agreed to be one of the coaches but she will need assistance. It is vital that we have coaches to pitch in to assist; the Club’s Executive members already are doing a great deal thus it would be overdoing their kindness to expect more of their time.
The Juniors day is planned at this time to be on Thursdays after school with the first day being January 9, 2014. The thought for that specific day was because the adults are curling day league Thursdays thus the ice will have been scrapped and pebbled / nipped in advance for the Juniors.
There will be financial assistance towards registration with more details to come later.
All of these good intentions are pending on the number of Juniors who sign up to play and on the availability of coaches to assist.
Please spread the before-mentioned information. More details will be coming before January 6.
If you have any questions or comments please contact me ASAP. (533.2528 or email reply)
