This week’s featured sponsors are Ed’s Plumbing & Heating Ltd. and the Eastern Light Lodge.
With 21 registered Junior Curlers I am attempting to find a procedure via which we can recognize their efforts and successes for selling 50/50 tickets. My plan had been to share this information today at the Juniors curling but the school closure changed my intention. Effective next Wednesday, February 4, when the Juniors submit to me their sold CAS 50/50 tickets and the appropriate amount of moneys from those sales — two Juniors will each be awarded a large-pizza certificate purchased from Big G’s Pizza and Restaurant, Guysborough — as recognitions for their selling successes. The pizzas are being purchased from a donation given to Chedabucto’s Junior League by AA Munro Insurance, Antigonish. The awarding process: The top weekly seller of 50/50 tickets will be given a large-pizza certificate. Should there be a tie for the top weekly seller, their names will go into a hat and a draw made for that pizza’s recipient. The name(s) not drawn will again go into a hat but with the names of the other Juniors who submitted 50/50 tickets and moneys on that day. Another draw will be then made but for the second of the two large pizzas to be awarded that day. The two large-pizza certificates will be awarded at each Juniors Program’s Wednesday until the conclusion of this season’s Junior Curling Program. My advance thanks goes to the Juniors, their parents, families, neighbours and friends who assist with the selling of the 50/50 tickets — and also to AA Munro Insurance for making our awarding of pizzas possible. Our next 50/50 draw will be on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
Best regards to all.
Greetings Parents (Juniors).
A generous family has donated two pair of right-handed-shooter (slide foot is the left foot) curling shoes, with grippers, to our Juniors’ program; one is size 5 and the other 7.5.
On a first-come basis, if you would like to borrow a pair (for your youngster) for the balance of this season please contact me. You will be loaned the shoes to take to and from practices or games with no storage at the rink. Once this season concludes our loan-requirement, as is done with bowling rental shoes, is for you to clean the shoes and return them to the rink via me.
(As applicable, clean sneakers or curling shoes must be the only footwear to be worn on the curling surface. NO STREET SHOES are permitted.)
As is a common situation, fund-raising efforts almost always need assistance; such is the case with 50/50 tickets being one of the Chedabucto rink’s revenue efforts.
The hope is that, with all the contacts each Junior (parents) has via relatives, co-workers, friends, neighbours, etc., the voluntary sales of tickets by the Juniors will increase the dollar amounts of each 50/50 draw so as to attract more buyers to the curling rink’s 50/50 tickets.
Starting this Wednesday (Jan. 21) — with the exception of our two international guests (Emilly and Ayumi) — each Junior curler will be assigned two books as his/her task to hopefully sell. On the next Wednesday (Jan. 28) I will collect whatever tickets that have been sold and also the $2.00 per-sold ticket. When the two books are sold we will issue two more books and so on until the end of this curling season.
The curling rink’s next 50/50 draw is planned for February 7th.
Thank you for your hoped-for assistance.
