Our featured sponsors of the week for Feb. 27-Mar. 3 are Make Yer Own Wine & Beer (Antigonish), Days Gone By Bakery, and A1 Gutter. These are all new to our club as of this past week.
Last evening was the drawing of the curling rink’s 50/50 prize winner. Even though we will be having our next 50/50 cash draw on April 1 — the next drawing for pizzas to the juniors for their selling of 50/50 tickets will be on this coming Saturday, March 4, at the beginning of that day’s coaching session.
My sincere thank you goes to AA Munro Insurance, Antigonish, for sponsoring the awarding of pizzas to the juniors for their selling of the rink’s 50/50 tickets. (For each book sold, that particular junior will have his/her name entered into the drawing for the two pizzas.)
More 50/50 tickets are available at the rink or via me. (902.533.2528)
PS: We are planning an adult/juniors funspiel for March 25 with two adults and two juniors per team. The day will consist of two four-end games and AA Munro Insurance pizza treats for all curlers. As details are finalized you will be receiving more information.
Congratulations to Karen MacKinnon, Mulgrave, for being the February 25 winner of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society’s (CAS) 50/50 draw. Karen bought her winning ticket — worth $142.00 — from her niece, junior curler Victoria Grady. (Thank you to all who bought our 50/50 tickets — and to those involved in their selling.
My thank you also goes to AA Munro Insurance, Antigonish, for sponsoring the pizza incentives to the junior curlers for their efforts to sell 50/50 tickets on behalf of the Chedabucto CC.
The date for the next 50/50 draw will be April 1 at the Chedabucto CC’s tentative Exxon/Mobil Cashspiel (Skins) to make it probably the largest prize of this curling season.
If you wish to purchase or sell tickets: contact a club member, purchase them from a junior curler or come to the curling rink. All efforts to sell the Chedabucto CC’s 50/50 tickets are sincerely appreciated.

Well another successful bonspiel has come and gone. This past weekend we had our annual Memorial Bonspiel with 7 teams competing. Thank you to all who participated and came out to watch. Two teams were undefeated in all 3 of their games. But in the end it was Team Jamieson with more points than Team Connolly. In 3rd place with a 2-1 record was Team DeCoff. Thanks go out to Ray Bates for his efforts to fill the prize table with such short notice and to his efforts in our 50/50 prize. Thank you to Labatt Brewing Company, (Tim Macumber), Municipality of the District of Guysborough (Angie Tavares), Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s, Guysborough (Fraser Cook), Martin Marietta Materials Canada Ltd., Mulgrave (Mike Shea), Ross Screenprint, Antigonish (Simon Hillyard), and Central Home Improvements, Antigonish for their help with prizes and to Days Gone By Bakery, Guysborough (Katie Pellerin) for the great lasagna and rolls for lunch. Thanks to all who helped with the ice: Phil, George, Maurice, Wilfred, Gerry, and Brian. To the help with kitchen we would like to thank Phil, Maurice, Maureen, Marion, Holly, and Kay… thanks also to all who donated food and snacks for both Friday and Saturday. Much appreciated… Next up is the Cecil Boyd Trophy games vs Canso CC on Mar. 4th and 5th.
The Memorial Bonspiel — in memory of the many people who enabled the Chedabucto Curling Club to exist — is this Friday night and Saturday day.
We will be having snacks and munchies on Friday night (free) with muffins, biscuits, tea and coffee on Saturday morning ($1.00). The Saturday lunch will be delicious newly-made lasagna plus a fresh roll
($4.00 total); both created by Days Gone By Bakery.
We need donated munchies and snacks for Friday evening that will be offered at no cost to those in attendance. If you can provide something for Friday night and/or the Saturday coffee/tea/snacks please do.
On Saturday morning we want to have muffins, biscuits, etc. available with coffee or tea. Please donate something for Saturday morning so the rink will make some profit to cover the milk, cups, etc. The charge will be a loonie ($1.00) for the Saturday morning tea/coffee/snack. (The executive was directed by the membership at last October’s semi-AGM to charge for bonspiels’ muffins/ biscuits and hot beverages.)
Here are the team list and schedule for the weekend:
