With school being cancelled today there will be no curling vs St. Andrews.
Our featured sponsors of the week for Jan. 29-Feb. 2 are Guysborough PharmaChoice, MacLeod Lorway, and Cutting Loose Hair Design & Esthetics.
THANK YOU to all who joined us for today’s very enjoyable Juniors/Adults session. The movement of juniors to various team positions worked very well. Thanks also to Phil O’Regan and Maurice Landry who prepared the ice and stayed to work (play) with the Juniors. After the conclusion of the second 3-ender game, the donated pizzas from Big G’s Restaurant and Pizza were enjoyed by all.
Next weekend’s Juniors, due to Saturday’s MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentines Funspiel, is being held on Sunday, February 4, at the regular time of 1:00 PM. At that time I’ll be there to do the pizza certificate draws for the selling of 50/50 tickets. Since the next 50/50 draw is on Saturday at the Ladies Funspiel, please attempt to have your sold tickets to me by Saturday afternoon.
Based on the names that I received, attached are the teams that I put together last evening. You will notice that there are a couple of spots with two names so as to enable all the juniors to curl while some parents will alternate with each other.
The intent of today is to let the juniors enjoy curling with parents while still getting some constructive advice on improving their skills.
We will be having pizza — donated by Big G’s — at approximately 3:00 PM.
We (Phil, Maurice and me) will be at the rink at 11:30 to prepare the ice thereby making it available for some practice or instructions before we start at 1:00 PM.
The next 50/50 draw is at the Ladies Valentines (next Saturday) so I’ll be seeking to get tickets that have been sold and their money today.
More tickets will be issued for next Saturday’s draw.
With next Saturday being the Ladies Valentines, Teagan is planning to have her juniors’session on Sunday, February 4, at 1:00 PM. I’ll be mentioning this change today at the rink.
Here is the team set-up for today’s Junior/Adult games:
We are good to go for this Saturday’s, January 27, Junior/Adult Funspiel. There is still room for more curlers with only 8 juniors and 6 adults committed to curl. If you know of someone who would enjoy some recreational curling on Saturday, we would welcome more curlers, be they junior-age or adults.
For those curlers who are not Chedabucto Curling Club junior or adult members there will be a modest $5.00 registration fee. There will not be a charge to the CCC junior members since this funspiel is in lieu of their regular instructional session. (Coach Teagan will be in Halifax attending a job fair.)
The plan at this time is start at 1:00 PM and to have two 3-end games, with games on ice 1 and on ice 2; juniors being skips in all games. After each game there will be a shuffle of each team’s players’ position so as to enhance their learning experiences.
I will be there for 12:30 PM should anyone wish to arrive for some practice shots before the 1:00 PM commencement.
At approximately 3:00 PM curlers will be treated to pizza that has been generously donated by Big G’s Restaurant and Pizza, Guysborough.
Hope to see a good turnout on Saturday.
