Curling club general meeting scheduled for Thursday September 10 at 6:30 PM….

A general meeting of CAS’s membership is scheduled for this Thursday, September 10, at the rink for 6:30 PM. The two point agenda is attached with the following being the main purpose of the September 10, 2015, general meeting. “Following an information update regarding CAS’s recent application for a government grant to insulate our rink’s attic from a level of less than R20 up to an insulation level of at least R50 and to replace all lighting in ice area with high-efficiency lighting, a motion will be sought from CAS membership present for permission to spend approximately $5,436.00 from CAS’s bank account to pay CAS’s $.50 per $1.00 portion of the government grant. (The $5,436.00 grant’s eligibility-to-receive expires at the end of September therefore a general-meeting quorum is a must to enable CAS to receive the before-mention grant.)”

Update from the NSCA – Ice Technician training…..

As August draws to a close which means curling season is just around the corner.  The NSCA, under Board’s direction, has been very busy over the summer.  This will be the first of several “update” emails over the next couple weeks.  So, without further ado…

The NSCA is very pleased to announce our new partnership with Jet Ice.  Jet Ice has become the title sponsor of the NSCA’s Ice Technician Training and Mentorship programs, now known as the

Jet Ice – Ice Technicians Course and Ice Technician Mentoring Program

“Founded in 1979, Jet Ice is proud to be an all Canadian company located in Newmarket, Ontario and Regina, Saskatchewan. We offer a complete range of products and services for the ice making industry, including ice paints, application packages, custom logo stencils, painting services, training seminars, and water treatment systems. Jet Ice products are used by more facilities around the world than all other competitive brands combined.”

Attached are two simple PDF posters we’d ask you to send to whomever in your club that maybe interested in improving or updating their Ice making skills.  These are our first Ice courses in several years and we are very excited to partner with Jet Ice to bring them to you.

The Level 1 is September 11-13 at the Bluenose CC and the Level 2 will be November 14-16, location TBA.

As far as the mentorship program goes; we had 4 applicants for the 2 open spots.  We are pleased to announce that for the 2015-16 season Bill Butts (Strait Area) and Graham Conrad (Bridgewater) will join Jamie Danbrook (Mayflower) in the program.  Thank you to the other applicants.

Thank you Ingrid Jaeckh for curling rink donations…..

On behalf of all at the Chedabucto Curling rink I extend my most sincere thanks to Ingrid Jaeckh and her family for the recent donations to the curling rink. For Ingrid’s Tuesday’s birthday celebration she requested that in lieu of gifts, monetary donation be made to the Chedabucto Curling Club.

Due to Ingrid’s generous request I am extremely pleased to state the $1010.00 was donated to the curling rink. To Ingrid I say thank you and to those who donated money I also express my sincere appreciation.

My thanks also to Holly Nahrebecky for her involvement in organizing Ingrid’s birthday celebration and for overseeing the subsequent donations to Chedabucto CC.

Cheers 🙂

Ray

Congratulations MLA Lloyd Hines, Minister of Natural Resources…..

On behalf of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society (CAS) I extend to Lloyd Hines my congratulations regarding his appointment to the position of Nova Scotia’s Minister of Natural Resources. In his cabinet position for the government of Nova Scotia he will be faced with new and exciting challenges, all of which I believe he will meet with competence and enthusiasm.

It is my hope, even though he will be faced with the very demanding task of overseeing his ministerial department and its many responsibilities, that his ongoing and demonstrated support of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society will continue. As I am certain you will agree, our curling facility has contributed much to our region over the rink’s 52 years of existence. With his assistance CAS’s members and supporters will be further enabled to continue to work diligently and successfully as they strive to offer opportunities and services back to our members, supporters and residents throughout our corner of Nova Scotia.

My sincere best wishes to you, Minister Hines, as you move forward within your new governmental office and with serving the people of Guysborough-Eastern Shore-Tracadie.

Sincere regards,

Ray Bates, President
