A belated thank you to Mary K. Connolly….

Oops, I missed a member with my recognition of those members from the Chedabucto CC who assisted at last weekend’s Pinty’s Grand Slam — Elite 10. (Sorry for my oversight.)

Mary K. Connolly also volunteered her time to travel to Port Hawkesbury so as to time several of the Grand Slam curling matches. Thank you Mary for being a great representative of the Chedabucto Curling Club.

An extremely important Chedabucto Curling Club General Meeting April 3….

Please reserve 7:00 PM on Monday, April 3, 2017, for one of the most important membership general meetings in the history of the Chedabucto Curling Club. (In my humble opinion.)

On March 10, 2010, (not a typo) the Club’s executive appointed an ad hoc committee to investigate whether or not we should move forward with a major renovation to the Club’s warm side of the glass. That investigative committee grew out of previous discussions amongst our Club’s members as to whether or not such a renovation was desired and/or doable.

Fast forward seven years, through several design considerations and the Club now has a proposed expansion/renovation design that, before it can move ahead, must have the approval of our general membership to permit it to proceed.  The most recent expansion/renovation design is now pinned to the club room’s wall by the ice 2 door below the rink’s heat unit. Thank you to all who have contributed their ideas to all the designs over the past years because those previous designs have evolved into the current design’s proposal.

On Monday, April 3, 2017, at 7:00 PM, the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society’s (CAS) executive will be conducting a general meeting at our Reddys Hill location for all CAS members who are able to attend so as to enable the CAS membership to discuss and to approve, or not, that the CAS membership proceeds forward to seek the necessary funding for whatever expansion/renovation that is approved by the membership.

At the April 3 meeting the proposed expansion will be discussed as well as suggested upgrades being included within our discussion regarding our 53 +/_ year old facility.

I hope we will have an excellent turnout to our April 3 meeting.

Best regards,

Ray

Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling’s Elite 10 in Port Hawkesbury…

George Luddington and Phil O’Regan we invited to help out with the Ice Prep for the Elite 10 that happened on Mar. 16-19/2017. It all started with unloading the truck on Sunday Mar. 13th. On Monday the 14th the ice prep began with the painting of the hockey ice surface and then the lines, rings and logos went on. By Monday night we were ready to flood. Flooding continued on Tuesday. The curling ice was ready for the teams to practice by Wed afternoon. George and Phil had a chance to throw some rocks before they came on. Lots was learned from this experience. Here is a timeline of photos from the week long experience:
