This year we have two competitive teams curling out of the club. Returning from last year is Team Dobson with Paula Dobson, Shauna Brymer, Carol Rhynold, and Iris Stanley. Teagan Lombardo is their alternate. Back to the club after a couple of years hiatus is Team Sangster with Wayne Sangster, Phil Redden, Randy DeGrass and Blair Brymer. Phil and Randy hail from Truro. New to the team is Blair. Both teams competed in the Mulgrave Machine Works Open Cashspiel in Port Hawkesbury on Nov. 22 – 24th. Team Sangster made it to the final only to lose to a team from Sydney, NS. Team Dobson went 2-2. Coming up next for both teams is the Ship Hector Bonspiel in Pictou, NS (http://www.ngnews.ca/Sports/2013-11-25/article-3501561/Ship-Hector-bonspiel-at-capacity/1) which happens on Jan. 24-26 weekend. Greg Cunningham has been added to Team Dobson.

This weekend Team Dobson will compete in the 5th Annual Highlander Club Cash Spiel (http://www.highlandercurlingclub.com/). Also playing in the spiel is a former club member, Nick Deagle, who has his own team curling out of Bridgewater. Team Deagle and Team Dobson will play each other on Saturday at 1:20pm. Other draw times for Team Dobson are Friday night at 6:45pm and Saturday at 9:00am and 5:45pm. Playoffs on Sunday.

After this the two teams will compete in the Dominion Curling Championships. Team Sangster will compete in Sackville (http://nscurl.com/index.php?/details/177.html) and Team Dobson in Wolfville (http://nscurl.com/index.php?/details/186.html). Both Bonspiels are on Feb 27 until Mar. 2/14.

Team Dobson’s first game is Friday at 2:30pm in Wolfville. Team Sangster plays at 12:40 on Friday in Sackville, NS at the Lakeshore Club.

Team Dobson finished with a 1-2 record and Team Sangster a 2-2 record. Former club member and teammate of Wayne Sangster, Nick Deagle, is in the final this afternoon at 5pm vs defending champion Mike Robinson of the Dartmouth CC.
