Competitive Teams

As of now it looks like Team Dobson will be back playing as one of our club competitive teams. Team Sangster is back but in the Senior circuit. If anyone else is thinking of putting together a team to compete province wide please let Phil O’Regan know at 533-2539.

This past weekend, Nov. 21st – 23rd saw Team Dobson and Team Sangster compete in the annual Port Hawkesbury Cash Spiel. Team Dobson with Paula Dobson, Shauna Brymer, Greg Cunningham and Iris Stanley finished up with 2 wins and 2 losses making it to the C final only to lose in that game. Wayne’s team (Wayne Sangster, Phil Redden and two other curlers from Truro) went 3-1 and won the B final. Congrats to both teams. Here are some photos of Team Dobson from the weekend.

Next up for Team Sangster is the NS Provincial Senior Curling Championships, Feb 20th-24th/2015 in Shelburne, NS. Here is the link for the championships: http://nscurl.com/index.php?/details/174.html. You’ll notice that they have Team Sangster down as curling out of the Truro CC. His teammates in fact are from the Truro CC but Wayne of course curls out of our club.

Team Sangster is currently tied for 1st place at the NS Senior Provincials in Shelburne at 5-1. In fact the other teams have all lost 3 games and are eliminated. Team Sangster is tied with the defending champs from last year Team O’Leary. They are playing as I type right now with Team O’Leary in front 2-0 after 2 ends. They will play again tomorrow morning to decide who wins.

Congratulations go out to Wayne Sangster and his group from the Truro CC who just this morning beat defending champ Team O’Leary 5-2 to win the NS Senior Men’s Curling Championships in Shelburne, NS. Wayne’s team finished up the spiel at 7-1. They are off to Edmonton in March (Mar. 21-28) for the Canadian Senior Curling Championships: http://www.curling.ca/2015seniors/

Team Dobson played in the Highlander Cash spiel this past weekend and placed 5th in the scheduled play which meant they were placed into the B division.  They won the pre qualifying game and then beat a New Glasgow men’s team to win the B division, which meant they placed 3rd out of 12 teams overall….and won some more cash ($350) to help cover their expenses for next weekend at the Travellers Cup (Ladies provincials in Wolfville).

As for Team Dobson`s next spiel it is the Travellers Women’s Club Championships in Wolfville, NS on Feb 26th-Mar 1st. Here is a link to the website: http://nscurl.com/index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=details&id=186&Itemid=616/index.php?/?option=com_eventlist&view=details&id=186&Itemid=616

Team Dobson lost a nail biter to Team Phillips on Saturday afternoon 6-5 in extra’s. They finished with a 4-3 record. Congrats go out to Paula and her teammates for putting up a good showing. Team Phillips (CFB Halifax) is battling Team Moriarty (Mayflower CC) today for the championship.
