Bronze medal winners at today’s Junior High regional tourney…..

Congratulations to Team Grady and Coach Mills for their third-place bronze win yesterday in the girls division at the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Junior High Curling Bonspiel.

Girls’ and boys’ teams from Truro Junior High, South Colchester Junior High, Central Colchester Junior High, Pictou Academy, West Pictou Consolidated and Chedabucto Education Centre met for their matches at the Chedabucto Curling Club in Boylston.

Team Grady played very well and truly deserve our praise for their skills and team effort. Shown left to right: Brooklyn Jordon (lead), Hanna Manthorne (second) Vanessa Dort (third), Victoria Grady (skip) and Alicia Mills (coach). My thanks to Maurice Landry and Phil O’Regan for assisting me today at the rink and to the parents who were able to be their as spectators — a good day for all.

My thanks also to the Municipality of the District of Guysborough and AA Munro Insurance for their financial assistance towards the Chedabucto Curling Club Junior Curling Program.

Mixed Doubles Jamboree Junior Curlers Sat January 13

Junior curlers from the Highlander Curling Club (St. Andrews), Chedabucto Curling Club (Boylston) and Bluenose Curling Club (New Glasgow) gathered at the Highlander CC’s rink on Saturday, January 13, to participate in the Highlander Curling Club Mixed Doubles Jamboree. Under the guidance of Brian Nicholson (Highlander CC), Teagan Lombardo (Chedabucto CC) and Crystal Cameron (Bluenose CC), the junior curlers played games of mixed doubles with only two curlers per team thereby giving the juniors opportunities to apply their curling skills. Nicholson, Lombardo and Cameron are looking forward to more interaction between junior curlers at future events.

With the ongoing renovations being at the stage where we will be slightly later that anticipated getting the building suitable and the ice not being quite ready for curling, the executive decided at last evening’s executive meeting that the junior curling league would commence its season on Saturday, December 9, at 1:00 PM.

We apologize for the delay made necessary due to the tremendous improvements being made at the Club.

Here is a poster for the Juniors.
