Ladies FUNspiel 2018

Another successful Ladies bonspiel has come and gone. Eight teams took part yesterday in a long day of curling. Thanks go out to MacLeod Lorway, our major sponsor for this event. With prizes and $$$ their support for this event is very very helpful in making it a great event. Money was used on prizes from IKEA and the spaghetti supper that the ladies enjoyed (Thank you Della and Wilfred Myette). Thanks also to our bonspiel committee of Paul, Maurice, Mary and Phil. Sponsorship of prizes is also important in bonspiels like this. It enabled all curlers to have a chance at a prize. Thanks to MP Rodger Cuzner for the 1st prize of a dinner for 4 at Des Barres Manor. Other sponsors were RBC Guysborough, Guysborough PharmaChoice, Cutting Loose, Lost Shores, Mary Kay (Mary E.A.Connolly), Days Gone By, Cooks Gas Bar, and Keltic Ford. Thanks also to those who helped out in the kitchen, bar and ice prep: Paul, Brian, Maurice, Phil, Jim, Wilfred.

Now the top four teams after a round robin of three 6 end games each: 1st place goes to Team MacDonald aka Team Hot Shots with skip Lois MacDonald, Mark K. Connolly, Marion Brow, and Chris Muise. In 2nd place was Team Connolly with skip Mary E.A. Connolly, Emily Perry, Francis Brymer, and (Junior) Jenn Dort. Third place went to Team Dobson aka Team Love Farts with skip Paula Dobson, Patricia Lynn Currie, Dawn Chubbs, and Mary Williams. A close 4th place winner (one point behind 3rd place) was Team Morrow with skip Liz Morrow, Iris Stanley, Sharon Hart, and Crystal Richardson. Our Hog Line winner was Jenn Dort with a prize from Pete at Cutting Loose. Our 50/50 draw was also held with Ray Bate’s brother Robert Bates winning the $131.50 prize. Ticket was drawn by Gavin Dort.
