Our annual MacLeod Lorway Ladies FUNspiel has come to an end. A total of 6 ladies teams competed with 2 teams going undefeated, Team Jamieson and Team Connolly. In the end Team Jamieson ended up with 7 more pts to win the championship. This was Evelyne’s 2nd win in a row. Team Wright ended up in 3rd place with Team Pyle in 4th. Team MacDonald was 5th and Team Hadley 6th. A huge thank you goes out to MacLeod Lorway who donated $$ that was used to purchase prizes for the ladies and the cost of food for lunch. Others that donated prizes were Cutting Loose Hair Design, Guysborough PharmaChoice, Chedabucto Home Hardware. MODG, Mary E. A. Connolly with ‘Mary K’ products, and Diedre O’Connor Massage. Flowers for the winners came from Rose’s Flowers and the gift certificates from Hart’s Grocery. Our closest to the pin winner was Ruth Gunn who was 1″ from the pin (Sponsor prize from Diedre O’Connor Massage. We also had a Hog Line winner in Elaine Wescott (Sponsor prize from Cutting Loose). I’d would like to thank Nancy and Mary who went out and took care of getting the prizes, Maurice, Phil, & George N. who helped in the kitchen and bar, plus George L. & Phil who helped out with ice prep. Next up is the Edgar Sceles Memorial on April 8-10.

As of today we have 23 curlers signed up for the Edgar Sceles Memorial… still room for more… last day to register is Wed. April 6th.

The Day League 2nd half playoffs begin on Monday April 4th at 9:30am. The four teams in are Team Luddington (1st), Team J. Jamieson (t-2nd), Team O’Regan (t-2nd) and Team Neufeld (4th). Before the two games begin Team J. Jamieson and Team O’Regan will do a ‘team draw to the button’ to determine who finishes 2nd and 3rd. 

On Tues Mar. 29th Team Luddington beat Team Long in the 1 vs 2 game and Team Landry beat Team Dobson in the 3 vs 4 game. So Team Luddington now advances to the ‘A’ division final on April 7th. Team Long will play Team Landry in the ‘A’ division Semi final on Tues April 5th at 7pm.

In the Night League ‘B’ division playoff last night Team O’Connor beat Team S. Brymer to advance to the semi-final game on Tues the 5th of April. Team B. Brymer could not field a team and conceded the game vs Team O’Regan in the 7 vs 8 game therefore Team O’Regan will now advance to the semi final game vs Team O’Connor on Tues.

Our annual MacLeod Lorway Ladies FUNspiel is happening this weekend with one draw on Fri at 7pm. Games resume on Sat starting at 9am. Last draw of the day is 4pm. There are 6 teams signed up this year with our major sponsor, MacLeod Lorway Insurance, donating money to the bonspiel for prizes. Here is the schedule and team list for the weekend.
