Hi All,

Welcome to the start of Fall and the start of what should be a very exciting curling season.  I’m sure everyone is looking forward to watching the Curling trails and the Olympics, as well as watching the Slam Events, Hearts & Brier with actual people in the stands. 

To add to that excitement, the Strait Area Community Curling Club is pleased to announce that we will once again be hosting the Strait Supplies / Maritime Marine / Air Liquide Open Cashspiel on the weekend of Nov. 19^th – 21^st.  The entry fee is $220.00/Team, and the maximum number of teams is 16.  There is a guarantee of $1,000 to the “A” Winner thanks to the kind support of Strait Supplies, Maritime Marine & Air Liquide.  Entries are on first come first serve basis, so please get your entries in early to avoid disappointment..  It seems that teams are anxious to get back on the ice as we have already had several early inquiries, and most of those were from new teams.

We anticipate and hope that most of the current Covid restrictions will be eased by then, but we will make sure we comply with whatever requirements are in place at the time.  There is a strong chance though that players will need to provide a proof of being fully vaccinated.

Supper will be provided Saturday evening, and there will be entertainment on Saturday night.  After not being able to kick up our heels last year, we are very much looking forward to another enjoyable party on Saturday night.

To reserve a spot simply send me a reply to this email, and if you happen to have your team lineup finalized, please let me know your player names.  We will collect your entry fee when you arrive.

Please see the attached poster – we would appreciated if you could print and post a copy in your club.  If you know of any other teams who would be interested in playing, please feel free to invite them.

The email below is just in from the Curling store. In the past years you, as a member, ordered through the club via me and got the ‘List’ price. But as we found out later the ‘List’ price is to benefit the club to save money. So we then added a % to the List price a couple of years ago. Last year, we, as a club, paid the list price and the members paid the MRSP. So generally there is no savings for you to order through the club but it does save you a trip to Halifax and at the same time make some money for the club. So take a look at the attachments provided and if you are in need of any equipment especially grippers, which should be replaced every year, then let me know on or before the season starts.
