Our final 50/50 draw winnner is…..

Congratulations to Dwayne Mattie, Monastery , for being the April 13  winner of CAS’s 50/50 draw.  Dwayne’s  winning ticket was worth $422.50. (I’m not certain as to how we managed to get the $.50 in there.  🙂 )  Dwayne’s win ends the Club’s 50/50 draws for this season — but we will be back.

Thanks to all who bought tickets — and to those involved in the selling of the 50/50 tickets.  In addition to Club members and other individuals who assisted with the sales, my specific thanks goes to Paulette Bennett and her team for being out their offering many people the opportunity to win the draws.

I definitely want to acknowledge the businesses who kindly consented to permit the Club to locate tickets within their locations for the public’s choices to buy.  With equal thanks and in random order, thank you to the following: Gerard Hart’s Grocery Store, Boylston; Floss Bottle Exchange, Tracadie; Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s; Cutting Loose Hair Design & Tanning;  Chedabucto Home Hardware; Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant; Guysborough Discount & Gifts;  Guysborough Pharmacy; Central Supplies (Guysborough); and  Petro-Canada Service Station , Monastery.

Best wishes and sincere thanks to all.

Day League Curling Final results….

Our Day League Final was held this morning. It turned into an exciting game after Gerry Jamieson’s team had gone out in front 6-1 after 3 ends. Joe Jamieson’s team fought back with 1 in the 4th and then stole the next 5 to go ahead 7-6 after 7 ends. Gerry tied it up in the 8th to force and extra end. In the end Joe did not have to throw his last rock and won the game 8-6. Great game to end the curling season. Congrats to Joe’s team of Marg Halloran, Joe Phalen and Iris Stanley. Runner’s up are Gerry, Mike Nicholson (in his 1st year of curling), Brian Farrell, and Marion Brow.

Final 50/50 draw will be held this Saturday during the Closing Bonspiel.

With this Saturday being the Sceles Memorial Closing Bonspiel and also the concluding weekend for this year’s 50/50 draws, the decision has been made to have the concluding 50/50 draw at the closing supper on Saturday.
On Friday afternoon the ticket boxes will be collected from their locations and stored away until next winter — with the tickets removed. 🙂
