Volunteers needed for 2019 Scotties in Sydney…
Curling Canada just passed this email on to our club. See below for details on how to get your name in to volunteer at the 2019 Scotties in Sydney.
Robyn Mattie passed on your information to me. I am working on the 2019 Scotties for the time being, including managing volunteer intake. Since launching our volunteer registration a couple of weeks ago we’ve had 45 people register, which is excellent!
As you can expect, we find it very difficult to recruit volunteers over the summer, so I’d like to get as many as possible before the curling season ends. With all the excitement around the Olympics right now, I think it’s a great opportunity to get people involved.
As I’m sure you’ve seen, a press release with all of the information is available here: http://www.curling.ca/2019scotties/2018/02/07/be-part-of-the-fun-and-excitement-volunteer-applications-for-the-2019-scotties-now-open/
And the link to volunteer is here: http://www.curling.ca/2019scotties/volunteers/
I’m hoping you can help distribute this information to all of the local curling clubs and encourage them to put it in newsletters or on notice boards if they haven’t already. Signing up early means people are much more likely to be on their first choice of a committee, which is always a bonus!
Curlers needed for Cecil Boyd Trophy funspiel vs the Canso CC…..
The Cecil Boyd Trophy Funspiel is Saturday, March 10, at Canso CC, with their players coming to Chedabucto CC on Sunday, March 11. When I put my and Betty’s names on the list to play on the 10th there was still a great need for more Chedabucto CC players on either or both days.
Phil and George have put much effort into keeping this funspiel going and our participation is needed. Kay has ensured that the Cecil Boyd Trophy has been updated and once again it is very presentable to the winning Club.
The format is very similar to the funspiels when the Highlander CC and Chedabucto CC play in each others rink with much fun for all. The 2 games per team are not highly competitive and only 6 enders with lunch available for a very reasonable fee.
This is an excellent opportunity to support curling in both Clubs and to strengthen the presence of curling in our combined regions. If you know of anyone who is available (curlers or what-to-try-it persons), call that person and enter your name(s) on the signup sheet at Chedabucto CC.
(We can arrange the car pooling next week.)
