Results in from our annual Duckie Race & Chicken BBQ…

Community support and members’ involvement are vital to all
volunteer-run organizations. The Chedabucto Curling Club (CCC) expresses
its sincere thank you to all of the attendees at its annual chicken BBQ
held on July 21 at its Boylston location. The CCC is also grateful to
the donors of the stick-pick prizes and those who purchased sticks; the
BBQ chicken cookers and purchasers; and those who gave of their
volunteer time to make the day’s events enjoyable. To those who
purchased duckie race tickets, your support enabled the race to be a
fun-filled event. This year’s fastest plastic ducks belonged to the
following: Max Tulk, Guysborough, first place ($500.00); Gloria Avery,
Larry’s River, second place ($200.00) and Kenny O’Leary, Queensport,
third place ($100.00).

For those who were unable to attend today’s curling club BBQ, you missed
a good feed. The curling Chefs again demonstrated their cooking
expertise: (front left clockwise) Jim Muise, Phil O’Regan, Brian
MacDonald ( head cooker), Chris West, Don Armstrong and George Luddington.

Face painting for the youngsters (and those young-at-heart) is a yearly
part of the Chedabucto Curling Club’s (CCC) chicken BBQ. Wanting to show
his steadfast loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leaf , Phil O’Regan (left)
has Meagan Kettley (right), under the watchful eye of Deonna King (both
from the MODG Recreation Department) apply her artwork at the CCC’s July 21 annual event.

MODG’s Mobile Day Camp at the club…

We are pleased to welcome the MODG’s Mobile Day Camp’s non-rental use of the Chedabucto CC’s club house on Mondays during July and August. The
CCC is pleased to make its facility and property available to the Day

Regional Junior Development Camps…

Another announcement from Andrew Paris:

Good afternoon everyone,
Registration for our Regional Junior Development Camps is now open. This fall, we will be hosting four day camps across the province. The locations are the Bluenose Curling Club (October 19), Lunenburg Curling Club (October 26), Berwick Curling Club (November 2) and Digby Curling Club (November 9). The cost is $30/participant and includes lunch. These are camps geared towards beginner to intermediate level curlers ages 10-15. I’ve attached posters for each of the camps. If you could please share the details with your contacts, that would be awesome.
For our Halifax based clubs, there are camps being held in your region as well. The Mayflower Curling Club has partnered with the Academy of Curling to host an Elite Junior Camp on September 14-15. The cost is $175/participant or $30/coach. Our 2019 Canada Winter Games boys team, Team Ethan Young, is hosting a Development Camp on September 21-22. The cost is $125/participant. Attached are posters for both of these camps.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Junior Development Program (Badge Program)….

Here is a message from Andrew Paris to all Junior curlers:

Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you’re enjoying your time away from the Curling rink.
Our Junior Development Program is coming back for the 2019/2020 season. This is our merit based badge program designed to get youth active, engaged and social while teaching them the rules and etiquette of curling. It can be used to help enhance the great work your program is already doing. During this past season, 12 clubs and over 400 junior curlers took part in this program. That’s almost double the amount of curlers from the previous season but we’re looking to grow the program even further. It is a free program and we provide all the books, worksheets and badges. Attached is a photo of the badges. If you would like more information regarding the program, let me know. If your club/program is interested in taking part, please let me know no later than July 22 so that we can ensure we can get everything ordered and sent to you prior to the fall.
For those clubs who took part in the program last season, we have ordered additional certificates and badges for each of the levels. If your club took part in the program and needs more badges, certificates or worksheets, please let me know no later than July 22.
As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
