Our featured sponsors of the week for Nov. 12-16 are Mother Webb’s, Guysborough PharmaChoice, and Keltic Ford (Antigonish). Note that these three signs are new versions of the older signs that were in the club. Supplies to us and the sponsors by Waterline Graphix.
Junior coach needed / Binder available / Coaching training available Nov 24….
The Nova Scotia Curling Assoc has developed an excellent manual of instructional suggestions along with strategies for a Junior Development Program which I have in a binder for someone (I hope).
Here is our dilemma: We have 6 adults who have volunteered to help with the Juniors Curling Program (ages 10 years plus) but none want to be the overseer — that is where the Club is in a bind. If someone will be our contact-person for the Juniors Committee, it will be no problem to have others to assist on coaching days or fill in if the one-in-charge must be absent.
The coaching periods for the 1.5 hr – 2 hr sessions hopefully will be after school on a week day and preferably not Friday night or Saturday day due to rink-organized events scheduled for those times. Sundays could also be a choice depending on the availability of the coach(es).
The MODG Recreation Department has agreed to pay the registration fees for the coaching development day in Baddeck on Nov. 24, at which time the two coaches for the Club’s younger juniors (Ice Cubes) will be attending; therefore, there could be a shared drive.
The Chedabucto CC is starting an Ice Cubes Program (Little Rockers) (ages 6 years to 10 years) in January with Charla Cosgrove and Gary Neufeld having volunteered to oversee that group of younger curlers.(More details will be forthcoming after arrangements are fine-tuned.)
The age(s) of the coach(es) will be 21 years or older. The coach(es) must have a current RCMP criminal record check to be presented to the curling club’s executive.
Should you, or someone you believe to be capable, be willing to assist with the older juniors please let me know. I will be pleased to present your or their name(s) to the executive for consideration. If you have any questions whatsoever, give me a call (902.533.2528).
The Chedabucto CC needs your assistance to ensure that our well-established junior league continues to exist and to enable more children to become involved in the wonderful sport of curling. Help me find a juniors coach — please.
Best regards,
Ray

2 stick delivery sessions Nov 17 (Saturday)….
We are having 2 stick-delivery sessions on Saturday, November 17th, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. (Your choice for either with both covering the same skills.)
The Nova Scotia Stick-Delivery Champions, Ron Crowe and Bill Spinney (Truro CC), are travelling to Chedabucto CC to offer advice and instructions for the successful use of the delivery stick as an alternative to the traditional drop-and-slide delivery method. Members will have first entrance choices with non-members welcome to fill available spaces.
Ron and Bill are charging Chedabucto CC only travel expenses (@375 kilometres) and their dinners at the Days Gone By. Based on those expenses, the cost for the morning or afternoon session will be only $20.00 (members) or $25.00 (non-members) payable by cheque (to CAS) or cash.
The plan is to have 8 people per session with the times on the 17th being 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM or 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM. After receiving confirmations resulting from the original email a couple of weeks ago I now need you to pick your time. We still have four morning spaces and six afternoon spots. I’ll leave Betty and me until others have selected their time slots and then we will enter what is left. I will also keep a backup list in case a spot opens.
This is a first-come, first served event so please let me know ASAP.
Good curling
Ray
