MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentine Dinner with Rodger Cuzner…

On behalf of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society, my sincere thank you to Mr. Rodger Cuzner, M.P., Cape Breton – Canso, for his ongoing support for the Chedabucto Curling rink’s annual MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentine Funspiel.

For the past five years M.P. Rodger has treated the winning team of the Chedabucto CC’s MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentine Funspiel to a dinner at the DeBarres Manor, Guysborough, with this year’s victory celebration being on August 30th.

The attached photo shows first-place Team Mary E.A. Connolly. (Left to right) Betty Bates, Cathy Wyatt, Emily Perry, Mary Connolly and M.P. Rodger Cuzner.

Ladies, if you want to start planning for the next ladies valentine funspiel, it is only 5 months until the 2018 MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentines Funspiel. 🙂

My best regards to all,

Ray

Acknowledgement of MODG’s financial assistance as received towards the Chedabucto Curling rink’s expansion/renovation project….

Barry,

Thank you for your emails regarding the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society’s acknowledgements of the MODG’s appreciated contributions towards the curling rink’s expansion/renovation project.

We are waiting for substantial bills to arrive that deal with work already completed regarding the excavation, the foundation’s installation, the carpentry work  and the construction materials. Up until now we have been dealing with lesser capital-related amounts being paid out on behalf of the curling rink while we were waiting for the larger jobs to be commenced and completed.

I assure you that when those bills are paid and we receive the rebate assistance back from the MODG, information regarding the MODG’s contribution(s) will be acknowledged within the expansion/renovation’s financial updates.

On behalf of all members and the many others who use the curling facility I thank you and through you my gratitude also goes to the MODG for their valued and very much appreciated assistance.

Car dealership sales/business appeals and curling rink expansion/renovation…

The curling season approaches with the expansion of our rink underway — with the bills are arriving for their payments.

As of today, we have raised only the grand total $60,000 towards our $210,000.00 goal with many personalized appeal letters having been sent and gov’t departments contacted. (We really hope that the low financial-assistance response it is due to it still being summer and not reflection of a lack of support for our curling rink’s improvement needs.)

My request today is for you to make a personal contact with wherever you purchased your vehicle (and do your household’s business). My rationalization is basic: You buying your vehicle / spending your dollars gave that business the means to assist with their survival. Conversely, we need businesses’ assistance to enable the Chedabucto CC to complete our expansion/renovation challenge.

Contacts were made and then personalized letters have been sent/delivered to the appropriate recipients at Keltic Motors, Antigonish; Canso Ford, Port Hawkesbury; and Central Nova Subaru, New Glasgow, for their consideration to assist the Chedabucto CC’s financial-support appeal. (As of yesterday’s mail delivery, there have been no responses from those three dealerships. A verbal request from you if you bought your vehicle(s) at one of those three would be appreciated.)

The procedure was for a contact to have been made by someone who purchased a vehicle(s) from a dealerships regarding to whom would our appeal be sent and then that request with the accompanying information was mailed/delivered.  Considering the fact that many of us have given ten of thousands of dollars to dealerships, it would be to the curling rink’s assistance for some dollars to be returned back to Chedabucto CC as donations/advertisement expenses or whatever categories that can be used by businesses to justify their output of finances.

Your assistance is definitely required.

Thank you

Ray

Walls are up….

As of Aug. 22 the walls of the new renovation piece on the club are up. Waiting on windows and roofing material now. Here are some pics from today.

Thank you Mike Nicholson. Welcome Maurice Landry…..

On behalf of all Chedabucto CC members and supporters I want to express my most sincere best wishes and thank you to Mike Nicholson as he and Cindy leave our community to embark of their Fredericton adventure. Mike (and Cindy) have been valued supporters of all that has been happening at the Chedabucto CC. Mike, in addition to serving on our rink’s executive has pitched in above and beyond the call of duty. He has also assisted with the ice making and maintenance, helped with bonspiels, assisted with our annual BBQ and ducky races, prepared food for Club events, organized our rink’s Canada 150 celebration and could also be depended upon for his wise and thoughtful counsel — to name but several of his (their) contributions to the Chedabucto CC. ( I won’t even attempt to name the many other contributions these two fine people have given to other organizations and activities.)

With Mike’s departure from the position as an executive-at-large member for our Club we needed to find someone to fill that position. I am very pleased to inform all that Maurice Landry has consented to take that position. Maurice, in addition to being very active in many events and requirements at the Chedabucto CC, is the chair of our Club’s expansion/renovation committee. Maurice diligently oversees all the needs of the curling rink’s expansion/renovation as we move forward with this challenging project. Maurice can also be depended upon to offer his assistance with the many requirements that enable the Chedabucto CC to be the fine organization and facility that we all desire. Maurice’s wise counsel has been valued as there are many things that need(ed) to be “chewed over” as we move(d) forward  with our rink’s existence. I am definitely not overlooking his wife Maureen, also a member of the Chedabucto CC; she too will continue to be as asset to the rink’s success — and to Maurice’s contributions.

Thank you Mike and Cindy. Welcome Maurice and Maureen.

My most sincere best regards to those two exceptional couples.
