The curling season is about to start finally…. Our Open House /Registration night will be Nov. 30th from 6:30 – 9:00pm. Season starts on Dec 4th. See poster below for more details.
As of today Nov. 16th we will be starting to flood the ice surface. The technician was in today and is re-installing the 2 condenser motors in the roof area of the ice plant. He says the plant is ready to go. Myself and Maurice Landry will be flooding today. An email was sent out to possible volunteers to do additional flooding since George and I are otherwise occupied with word duties elsewhere. It usually takes a good 2 weeks to get the ice in and ready to play. I anticipate a Dec 4th startup date for league play. When the ice is ready for practice we will let you know. Also there will be an Open House/Registration night plus a weekend of ice for new curlers.
Here is a link from Curling Canada about keeping curling ice in good shape.

Also the ice plant is still down and a technician is coming by tomorrow Nov. 9th to check it out. The brine pipes are fixed but the plant is still not working. If all goes well tomorrow the flooding can start. As in past years it takes at least 2 weeks to get the ice in and ready. So there is no firm date as to when the leagues will start. An Open House will occur the Wednesday before the league gets going plus a weekend of practice ice. Still looking for new players.
Attached are the registration sheet and public poster for junior curling. The Junior’s registration night is being planned for November 8, 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM.
It is always encouraging to have new and returning juniors. If you know of someone whom you believe would like to have some inexpensive fun and friendly competition, please spread the word that all are welcome within the age group as established by the Canadian Curling Association.
If you also are aware of any family who might have an issue with the registration fee, the MODG recreation will provide assistance once they have been contacted.
Best regards,
Ray Bates
PS Ice may or may not be ready at that time….
