50/50 winner March 15…

Congratulations to Joe Chisholm, Havendale, for being the March 15 winner of CAS’s 50/50 draw.  Joe’s winning ticket was worth $118.00  (Thanks to all who purchased  — and to those involved in selling — 50/50 tickets.)

With the wish to have larger winnings, CAS will occasionally be conducting the draws after a couple weeks of selling.  The tentative date for our next draw — the final draw of this curling season — is March 29.

If you wish to purchase or to sell tickets: contact a club member, come to the club, or buy tickets at Cutting Loose Hair Design & Tanning, Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s, Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant, Gerard Hart’s Grocery Store, Guysborough Discount & Gifts, Guysborough Home Hardware or Guysborough Pharmacy. CAS sincerely thanks the before-mentioned businesses for their continued support. (The businesses’ sold-tickets are collected on the weekend.)

Please refer to CAS’s website for other information and the names of 50/50 winners.

Club’s nomination to MODG Volunteer Recognition Night…..

It is my pleasure to inform you that George Luddington has been nominated to be the Club’s representative at the MODG’s Volunteer Recognition Night at the Hazel Hill and Area Community Centre on Thursday, April 10, 2014.

George volunteers to oversee the installing and maintaining of the Club’s ice from when the unit is turned on in October until it is shut off at the end of March / early April.  Things go so smoothly (no pun intended) with the ice that there are times that one can almost assume the ice just appears but I  definitely assure you that such an assumption is far from the truth.  Many hands make our ice as great as it is and George is the one directing those volunteers.

On behalf of all members of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society, THANK YOU GEORGE; enjoy your well-deserved recognition and dinner.

Best wishes, Ray

Stick draw prizes needed…

Plans are already be made for the stick draw at our summer duckie race. As you dig within corners, receive those gifts that you are willing to donate or are able to collect donated promotional products from the places where you do your business, please keep the prize necessity in mind for our annual stick draw.

We have a collection box at the Club for storage until the August BBQ / Duckie Race / Stick Draw.  Whatever you can provide, give it to either me or Phil so we can put it in the storage area until August.

Dues alone will never finance the expenditures therefore all of those extra revenue sources are critical to the rink’s survival; the stick draw is another of those extras to which people can assist.

Thanks Ray
