Last Junior curling this Wednesday….

Another curling season has too rapidly drawn to a close.  This Wednesday, April 3, at their regular time after school this year’s Chedabucto CC Juniors will be having their final curling session for this season at the Club.
In hindsight the winter has been a very busy one for the Club with many things happening.  As sometimes regrettably happens some activities dominate energies while others do not get the attention deserved; our Juniors League is an example of involvement that will definitely receive more attention next winter.
For this Wednesday a financial donation from Sceles Realty is enabling the Club  to provide all in attendance with a pizza treat.  Family members (parents, siblings, grandparents) of this year’s Juniors are also invited to attend for 3:00 PM so we can do a head (pizza) count for ordering the treat.
An additional activity that is planned for Wednesday will be two turkey shoots to determine which two Juniors will each take home a 20 lb frozen turkey — also provided via Sceles Realty’s donation.  Simply explained, the frozen wrapped turkey is placed on the ice and stones are curled at it to determine which Junior’s rock is the closest to the bird.  (While the pizza in being ordered the turkey shoots will be conducted.)
Thanks to those who assisted with this year’s Juniors — and yes you too are invited for pizza on Wednesday: Lawrence and Patrica Deagle, Shawna Cody, Donalda Mattie, Brian Farrell, Phil O’Regan  Holly Nahrebecky and Giselle Sceles.  (I hope I haven’t missed anyone.)
The Strait Regional School Board / Mr. Long is also gratefully recognized for the school bus service to enable the Juniors to travel to the Club.

Floss recycling at the club on Sat. Mar. 30th…..

Floss Bottle Recyclables, Tracadie, are at the Club’s parking lot this Saturday, March 30 (10 AM – 2 PM) as one of their alternate Saturdays.

Floss Bottle Recyclables’ revised schedule:

Mar. 30/13  10 am – 2 pm

Apr. 13/13  10 am – 2 pm

Apr. 27/13  10 am – 2 pm

When the weather gets warmer there will be a switch to summer hours and a new calendar will be posted.

If you wish — as a volunteer — to assist CAS, the Club will gratefully accept whatever donations of proceeds from recyclables that are donated to the Club.  Simply inform Wolfgang of your request and he will record your donation and pass on the moneys to CAS.  If you chose not to donate, that is completely acceptable.  We are pleased that you are utilizing the services that Floss Bottle Recyclables and CAS are offering to our community.

And the winner is……

Congratulations to Frances Cunningham, Havendale , for being the March 28 winner of CAS’s 50/50 draw.  Frances’ winning ticket was worth $269.00.  (Thanks to all who bought tickets — and to those involved in the selling of the 50/50 tickets.)

We are having one more draw this season, in two weeks on April 12.  If you wish to purchase or to sell tickets: contact a club member, come to the club, or buy tickets at Gerard Hart’s Grocery Store, Boylston; Floss Bottle Exchange, Tracadie; Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s; Cutting Loose Hair Design & Tanning;  Chedabucto Home Hardware; Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant; Guysborough Discount & Gifts;  Guysborough Pharmacy; Central Supplies (Guysborough); or Petro-Canada Service Station (on Fridays), Monastery .

CAS sincerely thanks the before-mentioned businesses for their continued support. (The businesses’ sold-tickets are collected mid-afternoon on Fridays.)

Best wishes for your Easter weekend.
