Results are in from the Skins Cash bonspiel…
Our annual Skins Cash Bonspiel took place this past weekend. A total of 6 teams played 3 games each. Each game was worth $100 with the money coming from our four sponsors: Mulgrave Machine Works, Scotia Diesel Services, Ron Chisholm Hydro-Seeding, and new this year Scotia Hills Farm. A huge thank you goes out to these sponsors who made this bonspiel work. It was decided that all teams would play for money and in the end not only did every team win money but all teams got back their bonspiel fee of $100. Before I announce the winners thanks go out to all who helped getting the ice ready for each game, for our bar and kitchen help and to Maurice and Phil who made the beef stew for lunch. Also to Francis who baked some delicious muffins for the morning. Finally I want to thank our bonspiel committee of Blair, Paul, Mary, and Phil who helped put this together. We had hoped with restrictions being lifted that we would have some out of club teams. Instead we ended up with 6 teams from our club. After a close round robin of games we had four teams with the same 2-1 record but in the end Team O’Regan with skip Phil O’Regan, mate Ryan Sangster, second Nancy O’Regan, and lead Jeff Campbell won the most money at $196 plus a bonus $100 for winning. It should be noted that this was Ryan Sangster 3rd win in a row at the Skins. Once with his father Wayne two years ago and last year as a skip of his own team. It was also Phil and Jeff’s 1st time winning a bonspiel at the club. In 2nd place was Team Jamieson with $180, Team Brymer came in 3rd with $173, Team Long was 4th with $129, Team DeCoff was 5th with $118, and Team Wright was 6th with a $104. Next up is the MacLeod Lorway Ladies FUNspiel on April 1st and 2nd.
