A demonstration regarding the efficient use of the rink’s defibrillator (AED) has been arranged for this Monday, November 17, 7:00 PM, at the curling rink. All skips — both day and night leagues — are requested to make the contacts to ensure that their team has at least one — but more if possible — representative(s) at the demo so all teams will have a potential AED user. (If you know of non-members who would also like to partake in this demo, please invite them to attend.) This is one of those situations where we truly hope that the AED never needs to be used but reality is reality; with our curlers being of such varying ages we don’t know when someone might need such assistance for a heart problem. Let’s be ready just in case. Paramedic Craig Jamieson, thanks to the efforts of Leona Purcell, has volunteered to come to the rink to conduct the demo. Several years ago we had a similar demo; however, a review for our self-confidence regarding the AED’s proper use is needed.
