Results are in from the MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentines FUNspiel….

Results are in from our annual MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentines FUNspiel this past weekend. For the 1st time in a while we had ten teams competing for the coveted Ladies trophy and dinner with MP Rodger Cuzner at Des Barres Manor later on on the summer. In a close finish for 1st place was Team M. E. Connolly by 2pts over Team B. Hadley. Third place and only 6pts back was Team Morrow. In 4th place was Team Nahrebecky. Also competing this weekend was a team of Junior girls (age 13-14). I want to thank them for taking part. I am sure it was a good experience for them. I know Ray mentioned last night all that the volunteers it took to make this weekend happen but I will go through the list again. Thank you’s go out to Ray Bates who coordinated the sponsor input of prizes and pick-ups, 50_50 tickets, clean up of club, etc among other things, to Holly Nahrebecky for organizing the bar duties with the help of Paul Connolly, Mike Nicholson, Brian Farrell, George Nahrebecky; to George Luddington with the help of Phil O’Regan, Wilfred Myette, Maurice Landry for taking care of the ice prep; to the kitchen help of Phil and Chris West and anyone else that pitched in, to Phil for getting the teams together and schedule, and to all who donated food for the Friday night and Saturday morning and afternoon. Without all of this help we could make it happen thanks again to all.

Thanks also go out to our  sponsors who helped out with prizes… Our biggest supporter of course is MacLeod Lorway who have been a major sponsor of this event for the past few years. Thank you to Margerat Hadley and Jen MacLeod. Other sponsors I believe are the office of MLA Lloyd Hines, Cutting Loose Hair Design & Esthetics (Peter Lombardo), Martin Marietta (Mike Shea), Days Gone By (Katie Pellerin), Mary Kay Cosmetics (M.E. Connolly) Robin’s Donuts (Fraser Cook), Ross ScreenPrint (Simon Hillyard), Haliburton PharmaChoice/Guysborough Pharmacy (Terry Haliburton), and Royal Bank of Canada, Guysborough (Kim Pellerine).

Finally we had our 50/50 draw on Saturday night. With the help of Gavin Dort the winner of the prize of $217 was Robert Bates of Bible Hill. Next draw will be on Feb 25th at our Memorial bonspiel.
