Chedabucto CC Expansion / Renovation approved to move forward….

History was made last Wednesday with an excellent attendance of our membership and their strong endorsement of the structural design currently posted on the club room wall and the passing of a motion to begin in April 2017 our fundraising of $210,000.00 for the expansion/renovations of our curling rink.

We had a great deal of discussion over our almost two-hour general meeting. To all I extend my most sincere and appreciative thank you for your valued input and support to our project.

My best regards to all,

Ray

Playoff update in both the Night League and Day League….

Last Thursday Mar. 30th the Night League semifinal was played with Team S. Brymer playing Team Dobson. Winner of the game was Team Dobson. They go on to the A final on Tues. April 4th vs Team Luddington. In the B final Team O’Connor played Team B. Brymer and Team O’Connor came out victorious. Congrats to Team O’Connor with David O’Connor, Iris Stanley, and Wilfred Myette. Not sure who the spare was for them that night.

In the Day League 2nd Half playoffs on Thursday Mar. 30th it was Team O’Regan over Team Luddington. Team Jamieson beat Team Worth. Team MacDonald beat Team O’Leary and Team Long beat Team DeCoff. Teams O’Leary and DeCoff are now eliminated from the playoffs with 2 losses. In today’s action it was Team O’Regan winning over Team Jamieson and Team MacDonald over Team Worth. Team Worth has now been eliminated with 2 losses. Team O’Regan goes right to the Day League Final on Thursday April 6th. Team MacDonald will play the winner of this afternoon’s game with Team Luddington playing Team Long. That game will happen tomorrow morning. The winner of tomorrow’s game plays Team Jamieson on Wednesday with the winner of that game playing Team O’Regan in the final.

Chedabucto CC season-closing 50_50 winner is……

Each year the Chedabucto Curling rink sells 50/50 tickets to assist with its Junior Curling League and its many operational expenses. The selling of 50/50 tickets is supported by A.A. Munro Insurance with their donations of pizza certificates to the Junior League curlers as rewards for their efforts to sell the tickets. The final ticket draw of this curling season was made on April 2 with the winner of $286.00 being Anna Connolly, Guysborough Intervale. Junior League member Calum Connolly (left) assisted Ray Bates, Chedabucto Curling Club President, with the selection of this season’s concluding draw.

Results are in from the ExxonMobil/Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline Skins Cash bonspiel….

Results are in from the ExxonMobil/Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline Skins Cash bonspiel. Our closing bonspiel has come to an end. With 10 teams competing this past weekend 4 teams made it to Sunday’s playoffs. No team was undefeated during the round-robin games. In fact 6 teams all had the same 2-1 record. In 1st place was Team ExxonMobil with skip Blair Brymer, 2nd place was Team Luddington, 3rd place was Team MacDonald, and 4th was Team DeCoff. In the Semi’s it was 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3. In the 1/4 game Team ExxonMobil won and in the 2/3 game it was Team MacDonald. So Team ExxonMobil played Team MacDonald for the A Championship and $855 while Team Luddington played Team DeCoff for the B Championship and $545. The A Champs with $620 was Team ExxonMobil while the B Champs with $280 was Team Luddington. As usual a lot of thank-you’s go out to all who curled to make this a successful closing spiel. Thanks to George and whoever helped with the ice; to Phil, Shauna, Blair and Loraine for their help in getting this organized; to the bar and kitchen help; to all who donated food over the weekend. Thanks to Della and Wilfred who supplied us with a great spaghetti and meatball meal; of course this weekend would not have happened without the sponsorship money and prizes from ExxonMobil and the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline. We also had prizes from GOALS and Goldline who supplied us with curling rocks for the ‘Closest to the Button’ contest. Those winners were Shauna Brymer (on the button), Marion Brown (on the button), Paul Long (.5″), and Dannie Worth (2″). Our last 50/50 draw was drawn and the winner of $286 was Anna Connolly. Finally I want to thank Ray for his efforts in organizing the help for the weekend plus 50/50 etc… Here are some pictures from the weeeknd.
