Removal of last year’s Emergency Response Information sheets and email distribution adjustments….

The Club’s by-laws direct that our last-season memberships expires at the end of November therefore all of us who were members in 2017-2018 (as per the Club’s by-laws) unless we have re-joined for 2018/2019, are no longer members of the Chedabucto CC as of today.

Today I removed from the binder and burnt all 2017/2018 emergency response information sheets. To those who have completed and submitted their 2018/2019 emergency response information sheets — thank you. Your what-if-something-happens-information should now be within the confidential binder on the Club’s kitchen fridge where, hopefully, it will never be needed.

For those who have yet to provide their completed emergency response sheet please do ASAP. If you are in the building or on the Club’s property and unresponsive due to a fall or illness, it will be a heck of a problem for the Club to exercise the due diligence that it desires for your care and to do as you instruct.

What I am going to do shortly is remove the no-longer members from my Club membership distribution email list but leave them within the supporters email distribution list. If you prefer not to receive those Club related emails please advise me. I will follow your instructions and also delete you from the supporters file.

Best regards,

Ray

Turkey shoot this Friday evening….

Good times are a guarantee at the annual Chedabucto CC Turkey Shoot, this Friday, November 30, 7:00 PM. The four frozen birds — patiently resting within the freezer at the rink — are awaiting their new owners.

Thirty-two rocks per bird at $3.00 per rock or 2 rocks for $5.00 gives us a time line of approximately 30 minutes per bird with the event concluding around 9:00 PM. You can slide; you can use the stick; you can bounce rocks of the sideboards; whatever works to get your rock as the closest one to the turkey at the end of the 32 rocks. Keep in mind that this plastic-wrapped frozen bird ain’t resting still since it is being bumped around the ice sheet.

Curling skills are not a requirement to win the bird. A pinch of luck along with unintentional assistance from those rocks ahead of you will give you the prize.

All are welcome to attend. All you need is clean sneakers or curling shoes so as not to soil the ice. Bring your family, your friends or that brother-in-law or uncle that you don’t really care for; what the heck, the more the merrier.

Hopefully you will be able to attend this annual social event.

2 levels of Junior curling programs at the Chedabucto CC to begin early January…

With much gratitude to Charla, Gary and Paul, I am extremely pleased to announce that BOTH leagues of junior curlers will commence in January. Charla Cosgrove and Gary Neufeld were at a coaching session in Baddeck last Saturday and will be overseeing the Little Rockers (ages 6 – 9 years) on Mondays after school. The Little Rockers are new to the Chedabucto CC and we are very excited about the establishment of this curling program — Spread the news.

Paul Long has agreed to be the head coach for the juniors program aged 10 years plus which will happen on Wednesdays after school. At the October Semi-AGM the dues for Juniors were set at $55.00 (HST inclusive).

We look forward to last year’s youngsters returning and also welcome others to join, regardless if they are new to the sport or former junior curlers. More information about both programs will be forthcoming after we have had the opportunities to fine tune the programs so all will be pleased with what is being offered.

Best regards,

Ray
