Results from the MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentines FUNspiel….

Our annual MacLeod Lorway Ladies Valentines FUNspiel is complete. Nine teams battled it out to win the big trophy. Judging by the response in the end the ladies had a great time. A BIG thanks goes out to our major sponsor, MacLeod Lorway, who once again helped out financially to put this yearly bonspiel on. Other sponsors/members who helped us out on the prize table were Guysborough PharmaChoice, Cutting Loose Hair Design, Mary K Cosmetics (Mary E. A. Connolly), Oasis Massage, Coldstream Distillery, Peace By Chocolate, Con & Con Construction, Caper Construction, Bowie Electric, Alison Billard, and Elaine Wescott. Two special prizes were awarded yesterday; first was for the ‘Closest to the Pin’ sponsored by Oasis Massage. This was won by Jenna Dort who was 4.25″ from the pin. The 2nd special prize was for the ‘Hog Line” winner sponsored by Cove Quilting (Alison Billard). The winner was Tonya Pelley. Now for the trophy winner, with a 3-0 record, the team from the Highlander CC, Team Doiron, with Skip Joanne Doiron, Clarita Campbell, Lenita Hanson, and Maria Steward.  This was their 2nd straight trip to our bonspiel. Second place, with a 2-1 record, was Team Dobson with skip Paula Dobson, Kim Sampson, Marion Brow, and Elaine Wescott. In 3rd place, also with 2-1 record, was Team Pyle with skip Holly Pyle, Leona Purcell, Erin Brown, and Robin Fulford. Team Pyle also had the best ‘Team Closest to the Pin’ and was awarded a bonus of 10pts.

A huge thank you goes out to all the guys who donated food to the bonspiel and to some of the ladies who also brought food. Thanks also go out Maurice who ran the bar; Gary, Collie, and Phil who ran the kitchen; George, Gary and Phil who prepped the ice and to Mary E. A. Connolly who went out and bought most of the prizes and helped in getting donated ones. On a sadder note we acknowledged the passing of member Gary MacMaster and community member Bobby Cook whose business, Home Hardware, is a sponsor at our club as of this year. They both will be sorely missed. Here are some photos from the event:

Our 12th featured sponsors of the week for the 2023_24 season for Jan. 29-Feb 4 are three of our new sponsors, GFL Waste Management (Guysborough), Hart Electric Motor Repair, and Melinda’s Reflexology. Please acknowledge & thank the sponsors when you might happen to visit their business.

The Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society (CAS) appreciates all who provide sponsorship to its society by allowing it to display and promote their businesses’ promotional signs to all of its members via email, within the rink, via Twitter, Facebook and CAS’s website: (https://www.chedabuctocc.ca/sponsors)

To continue to promote and support your business, CAS will now post sponsorship signs throughout the entire year. On behalf of the CCC Executive, members and volunteers, I thank you for your continued support.

New sponsors at the club….

I’d like to take this time to welcome our five new sponsors and one on its way. Joining us at the club is Chedabucto Home Hardware, Harts Small Engine Repair, GFL Waste Management, Melinda’s Reflexology, and North Riverside Welding Ltd. Joining us next week will be the UPS Store in Antigonish. I would like to thank Floyd Grady for getting us four of those sponsors. I am currently trying to get Grant’s Heavy Equipment on board. The UPS Store will now be our sign producer. After many years of supplying the club with signs and support, Waterline Graphix, has dropped the business in name only. A huge thanks to Sandra, Tino, and Sarah for their support over the years. Their business is up for sale if there are any takers. I will attach the pics of these signs plus an advertising letter for future sponsors if anyone knows of a business out there that may want to sponsor a sign at the club. We are now at 51 signs in total at the club. During the past year we have lost the following supporters: Maples Retirement, Make Yer Own Wine & Beer, Sunflower Natural Health, Waterline Graphix, James C. MacIntosh, and Antigonish Wheel Alignment.
