Edgar Sceles Memorial Bonspiel

Our 1st bonspiel of 2024 is fast approaching. On Jan. 19/20 we are holding the Edgar Sceles Memorial Bonspiel. For those of you who are not familiar with this bonspiel it recognizes one of our founding members, Edgar Sceles. The Sceles family in the past used to donate sterling silver pins to the club to hand out to the winning team. Unfortunately they cannot obtain these pins any more and as of last year donated money to the winning team instead of pins. With this being the 60th anniversary of the club our social committee, led by Breanne Chisholm, will be promoting our entertainment on the Saturday night of the bonspiel. One of our local entertainers, who now lives in Halifax, Reid Jamieson (Joe’s brother), will entertain us from 8 until close. It will be $10 at the door for non-bonspiel curlers. There will also be a supper organized by our Kitchen committee. $$ amount TBA. Supper and entertainment are included in the $35 fee per curler. Lunch and breakfast also TBA. Games will be 8 ends and each team will play 3 games. Club members signing up will be drafted onto teams by the skips. We encourage non members to sign up either as a team or be included in the draft. Draft is being held at the club on the 18th at 6:15pm. With the success of the Dice FUNspiel and the Turkey shoot let’s keep this going into the new year.
