Chedabucto Curling Club vs Highland Curling Club results are in….

Today, Feb. 21st, the Chedabucto CC brought home the Meyers Trophy as a result of the annual competition between the Chedabucto CC and the Highlander CC..

We had two days over the past couple of weeks when the Highlander CC came to Chedabucto CC and then we returned to their rink today. When the total points were counted, Chedabucto CC (233 pts.) was victorious over Highlander CC (170 pts.).

We will proudly display the Meyers Trophy for another year within our Boylston location and then see what next year brings as a result of the 2019 event.

A great time was had between the senior curlers from both rinks and all look forward to the annual enjoyment and hospitality provided by this friendly and recreational competition.

To all who participated: Thank You!

To the good folks from the Highlander CC: Your hospitality and sportsmanship is always golden.

(Some of the Chedabucto CC were available for the attached photo after the final games were played this afternoon.)

Good curling,

Ray

Thank you and congratulations….

Today we had our first “Curling Day in Canada” with thanks to those who attended and also to the coaches. Showing up to assist with coaching were Maurice L., Gary N, Gerry J. , me and Brooklyn Jordon. Thanks also to Gary N. for the delicious cookies and to Diane Tulk for the cheese/meat tray.

At the end of the session Floyd Grady randomly drew the winner for a year of free membership in the Chedabucto CC with the lucky person being Mike Shea.

Congratulations Mike; welcome to the Chedabucto Curling Club.

Good curling to all,

Ray

Important email-of-support needed for grant in support of curling rink…..

My apologies for the short notice but I just received a requirement regarding our Recreational Facility Development (RFD) grant application from the NS Dept of Health and Wellness. They are requesting community-support emails that support/justify the renovations and upgrades done to the curling club; those emails to be received by them no later than next Friday, February 23.

The Chedabucto CC is now truly a year-round facility with options for adults/children/groups/organizations to use the facility for health and wellness activities (physical or mental) throughout the entire year. We are being required to justify our renovations/expansion so that they enhance other community groups.

These emails, with the common subject line — Chedabucto Curling Club Support — go to Ms. Rae Gunn, Highland Regional Manager, Antigonish, at Rae.Gunn@novascotia.caThese much-needed support letters are to accompany our RFD grant application.(If you will, but not required, copy to me for the Club’s records.)

Fire brigades, businesses, clubs, culture or social groups, and health organizations are some of the many community groups who could use our now-fully-accessible facility for workshops, wellness events, community information sessions or training purposes. The expanded accessible lounge could be used for culture, weddings, funerals, workshops or fund-raising endeavours. Events now have another venue available as with the Guysborough Players who have already reserved May 20 for one of their musical performances.

If you want to pass / post this request for emails to others — please do.

All support will be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you.
