Sold 50/50 books and moneys submitted tomorrow…..

To all the Junior curlers.

Please ensure that all sold 50/50 books sold are turned in at tomorrow’s instructional session (Saturday) so I can keep the records accurate.

The next juniors’ pizza draws will be on February 2. Each book completely sold will make that curler eligible to put his/her name into the draw container for that book sold. There are no limits to how many times the names can be included — one book sold equals the youngster’s name included.

Winner of Chedabucto CC 50/50 draw January 21…..

Congratulations to Diane Tulk, Guysborough, the January 21 winner of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society’s (CAS) 50/50 draw. Diane’s winnings were $328.00. (Thank you Jenna Dort drawing the winning ticket.) Thank you to all who bought CAS 50/50 tickets — and to those involved in their selling.

My thanks also go to AA Munro Insurance, Antigonish, for supporting the pizza incentives to the juniors for their efforts to sell 50/50 tickets on behalf of Chedabucto CC.

The  tentative date for the next CCC 50/50 draw will February 11 at the Ladies Valentine FUNspiel.

Tickets are now available for our next 50/50 draw via CAS members, junior curlers or by coming to the curling rink. Our rink’s website has updates on draws and the names of our 50/50 winners. http://www.chedabuctocc.ca/50_50-draw-2016_17

Results from the Edgar Sceles Memorial Bonspiel….

The annual Edgar Sceles Memorial had the most teams that I have seen for this memorial bonspiel during my ten years at the Chedabucto CC. We had 40 curlers, 10 teams and a ton of recreation and socialization.  What a great weekend! At Saturday night’s awards’ presentations I gave a verbal thank you but some had already left therefore once again I say THANK YOU to all who enabled the Edgar Sceles Memorial Bonspiel to be so successful: Phil for doing his usual exceptional job of arranging teams’ schedules, advertising the event and cooking the hamburgers; those who assisted Chef Phil and stepped in to assist throughout the day for “kitchen detail”; Ronald and Gail Sceles for donating the sterling silver pins in memory of his father; George and his ice team — great ice and exceptionally maintained; Holly and her bar team — in addition to Holly doing her regular treasurer tasks; those who donated munchies, snacks, biscuits, muffins and donuts; Betty for putting up with me and helping to clean the rink in preparation for the bonspiel; Neil for getting some draw prizes from the MODG and to the MODG for their support; those who volunteered to donate additional draw prizes; the three juniors (and their parents) for curling in their first bonspiel;  (I hope you enjoyed your experiences.) and to the 40 curlers and the many, many spectators who were part of the rink’s Edgar Sceles Memorial bonspiel, THANK YOU EACH AND ALL!

As for who won it was Team Luddington with skip George Luddington, Mate Kay Chisholm, 2nd Heather Manual and Lead Vanessa Dort. In 2nd place was Team DeCoff with skip Neil DeCoff, Mate Mary K. Connolly, 2nd Charla Cosgrove, and Lead Sharmaine Shea.

The only apology that I will make is to those who had to park their vehicles on the road BECAUSE OUR PARKING LOT WAS FULL. That is one apology that I hope I will have to make very frequently. 🙂

My sincere and best regards to all,

Ray

PS: Our next bonspiel is the Ladies Valentine FUNspiel tentatively planned for February 10/11.
