Last night April 5th the Night League and curling season came to a close with two championship finals. On Ice 1 the ‘A’ final featuring the Brymer siblings, Blair and Shauna, took place. In the end Blair’s team of Don Armstrong, Heather Manual and spare Mary E. A. Connolly (filling in for Karen Hall) took home the A championship game. Congrats to all. In the ‘B’ final Team Hadley squeaked out a close game vs Team O’Connor with Paul Long, filling in for skip Margaret Hadley, hitting an angle raise to the button for the win. Congrats to Margaret and her team of Bernie Curry, Mary K. Connolly, and Patricia Lynn Currie. Also thank you for all who showed up for the games with a standing room only crowd at the glass.
Juniors pizzas awards and shot to the button winners on March 30….
Last Wednesday, March 30, Chedabucto CC had its awarding of pizzas to two of its Junior curlers for their successes with the selling of the rink’s 50/50 tickets. The pizzas were donated to Chedabucto’s Junior League by AA Munro Insurance, Antigonish. AA Munro Insurance’s much appreciated generosity and assistance definitely served as an incentive to encourage the Juniors to sell the rink’s 50/50 tickets. At Wednesday’s season-concluding Juniors session — as selected by the usual method of random draws based on who sold complete or partial books — the two Juniors to receive Big G’ large pizzas were Ryan Sangster and Vanessa Dort. My thanks goes to the Juniors, their parents, families, and friends who assisted with the selling of the 50/50 tickets — and also to AA Munro Insurance for making our awarding of pizzas possible.
Also at the conclusion of last Wednesday’s curling session there was the usual “hot shoot” draws to the button with chocolate bars as rewards for the closest boy’s and girl’s rock to the pin. With several bars remaining in the bar, and last Wednesday being the final “hot shot” to the button for this season, we gave four bars to the closest rocks to the pins. The winners of the bars were Ryan Casey (10″), Jonah Worth (13″), Vanessa Dort (55″) and Jenna Dort (184″). Congratulations to those four curlers.
Last Wednesday was the final day of Chedabucto CC’s Junior curling for this season. On behalf of the Chedabucto CC executive and its members I thank you for enabling your child(ren) to partake in the great sport of curling, May you and your family have an enjoyable spring, summer and fall and join us in the winter of 2016 – 2017 for another winter of curling.
My sincere thanks and best regards to all.
Ray
Winner of Chedabucto CC’s season-closing 50/50 ticket draw on April 2…
Congratulations to Linda Atkins, Halfway Cove, for being the April 2 winner of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society’s (CAS) 50/50 ticket draw. Linda bought her winning ticket — worth $154.00 — from her grandson and junior curler Ryan Casey. The April 2nd draw concludes our 50/50 ticket sales for this season. We’ll be back in the early winter of 2016.
Thank you to all who bought Chedabucto CC’s 50/50 tickets — and to those involved in their selling. Thank you also to the following businesses for permitting Chedabucto CC to sell tickets in their places of business: Cutting Loose Hair Design & Esthetics, Guysborough Pharmacy, Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s, Chedabucto Home Hardware, Guysborough Discount & Gifts and Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant. Our rink’s website has the names of our 50/50 winners. http://www.chedabuctocc.ca/50_50-draw-2015_16

Info on the Curling Store…
Our last official day of the season will be Saturday April 2, 2016. Our retail store will only be open by appointment after that until September 10 or 17. We still have quite a bit of stock if you happen to be looking for something.
I haven’t received much from the suppliers regarding new product, prices etc for the upcoming season in the fall of 2016. I am hearing through the grapevine about price increases due to the low Canadian dollar but won’t know more until I start getting some price-lists. Tournament/Ultima has decided to stay in the curling business but with a very limited line including the Eagle shoe, grippers, elastic sliders and a brush. 8 Ender is no longer in the business at all and it sounds like hair heads are on their way out of the sport permanently.
We thank you for your continued support of our Nova Scotia owned small business. We have had another successful season after a bumpy start last February/March and are already looking forward to next season. Our great customers make it all possible and we appreciate it.
Thanks,
Scott Bowers
