Curling rink’s BBQ & Ducky Race tickets

Supporters and Members:

The annual chicken BBQ and ducky race, stick draws, crown & anchor and washer toss are scheduled for July 19 at the curling rink. This is our BIG FUND RAISER of the year thus support is truly appreciated and sincerely needed.

Members (adults and juniors) now have ducky race tickets for sale. If you are willing to purchase a ticket(s) or a book(s) contact one of us. Delivery to your hands is free. 🙂 The ticket’s cost is only $5.00 a ticket or 5 tickets for $20.00. First prize: $500; second: $300 and third $100.

It appears that the ducky race will happen late morning (depending on the tide); we will be more specific as the date approaches. With the tentative race time a couple of hours before the BBQ it is extremely important that the ducky race tickets be sold in advance since they will have had their big swim before the BBQ.

The chicken BBQ (1/2 chicken) and games of chance are scheduled from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (as chicken supplies last).  The delicious dinner is only $15.00.

Advanced chicken paid-for-in-advance pre-orders are possible by contacting Holly Nahrebecky (867.7342) or Lois MacDonald (533.2447) to arrange such payment and a record of your order(s).

Any questions?

Stick draw prizes and ducky race tickets…..

Stick-draw prizes: One of our rink’s members used my earlier email in which I suggested that members might consider approaching their work sites or places of business as a source of prizes for the stick draws. He presented that email to his employer as an explanation for his request for prizes donations. His employer used that email for accounting purposes to explain his donation back to the rink.  If you wish, I can provide a letter or another email for you to present to a business for their donation of prizes for the stick draws.

Ducky tickets sold via the social media: A couple of our rink’s members have placed information onto their social media sites indicating that they have ducky race tickets for sale.  The feedback and responses have been positive for public awareness and also for offers to purchase tickets. If you have not received your tickets to sell please contact me (902.533.2528) or Kay (902-533-3323) to solve that situation.  Both Kay and I have extra tickets if you wish to have more to sell. Now it is up to us to get the tickets sold and to provide prizes for the stick draws. Basil Mattie has volunteered to be the site for prizes in his area to be left for me to collect. In this area it will be my home or Kay Chisholm’s for prizes to be left.  I have already had some prizes left here for storage prior to the ducky race. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me ASAP.

Cheers, 🙂

Ducky race tickets need to be sold….

Get ready but don’t get annoyed because of the to-be-frequent reminders of the need for all of us to sell the 1000 ducky race tickets.

The chicken BBQ and ducky race are scheduled for July 19 with the goal to have all tickets sold and moneys submitted to me or Kay Chisholm by July 10.  It is vital to get sold tickets submitted due to the task of recording the tickets’ numbers onto the large wall chart so as to enable non-sold tickets (ducks) to be removed before the race and to reduce the need to record ticket / duck numbers on the hectic day of the ducky race.

With the approximately $30,000.00 expenses required to operate our maintained-by-volunteers curling rink and the reality that dues only cover approximately 1/3 of those costs it is obvious that we need to raise funds via the efforts of our members. I referenced expenses but did not mention the critical need to have reserve funds for the inevitable additional curling facility expenses that will appear.

If you haven’t received your ducky race ticket books to sell yet — you will this week. The support of all members (their families too) to sell the tickets is critical.

Any questions?, or if you want more tickets in addition to those you have already received, please contact me or Kay.

Thanks.

Ray

Stick draw prizes for Chicken BBQ needed….

This is a polite reminder to be on the lookout for suitable prizes for the stick draws at our rink’s chicken BB on July 19.  Dig in your storage corners; keep an eye peeled for sale items and check for promotional items at places where you do business. The more items the merrier and the greater the success with the stick draws.

Cheers 🙂
