Yearly Archives: 2020

Ice Advertisement 2020 over summer months….

Hello folks. Even though our club is closed for the summer we still need to try and raise money for the club’s ongoing upkeep. With that being said please read the notice below from our President, Ray Bates, on starting up the weekly featured sponsors site. This will start on June 1st.

‘The Chedabucto Curling Club (CCC) appreciates all who provide sponsorship to the CCC by allowing it to display and promote their businesses’ promotional signs both within the rink and via the CCC’s website. (https://www.chedabuctocc.ca/sponsors)

Our combined realities is that, as the CCC exists during the non-winter months — those sponsor- sign businesses also function during the entire year — therefore our year-round support to their companies is extremely important.

Our “WEEKLY FEATURE” display enables the Chedabucto Curling Club to weekly focus on several businesses with notices being sent to all members and postings to the CCC website. To demonstrate our gratitude to these businesses for their ongoing support to the Chedabucto Curling Club — please support them as much as possible.’

Assisting those who assist the Chedabucto Curling Club…

The Chedabucto CC exists through the efforts of its members and the valued support from many businesses. Please go to our website (https://www.chedabuctocc.ca/sponsors). Those sponsors/businesses are experiencing a business reality that is unprecedented in our life times. If you are able — please support them as much as possible. Our signs’ sponsors support us in “normal” times. It is now our opportunity to support them during these dire times.
Stay safe. Be well.

Curling Club Update…

The curling season is over but your executive is still communicating
regarding curling club topics. The executive had planned — it seems
like a long time ago — to have the closing potluck dinner and awards
in April; however, that event is cancelled. I am hopeful that the
executive might be able be able to have its next meeting in May but that
is a wait-and-see event.

One of the topics the executive will be discussing is our Club’s AGM
which, as per our by-laws, is required to happen in May. I am going to
assume that the Club’s membership will not hold their executive in
violation for tentatively skipping a May AGM and instead will see the
logic, if necessary, in rolling that meeting onto a later date when we
are permitted to gather in larger groups.

The other topic in a wait-and-see mode is the timing of our annual
chicken BBQ and duckie race. Once the executive has had an opportunity
to consider the realities affecting the BBQ and duckie race, I will pass
on the executive’s recommendations to you.

Be safe and stay well,
Ray

Chedabucto CC is officially closed for the season…

It has been a heck of a day. I cannot imagine what our Premier or Prime Minister must go through each and every day. There were still some votes coming in over the past hour thus the delay until this time.

The massive majority have voted to CLOSE FOR THE BALANCE OF THIS SEASON. Thirty-four voted to close. Four voted to stay open and one abstained.  Since we are in a pandemic the decision was made not to let this decision go into Monday.

My prime goal is to ensure that the Chedabucto CC remains a healthy place to gather and to enjoy each and all fellowships. You have responded promptly with your guidance and I am truly appreciative. We have a wonderful organization and all of you make me proud to be a member.

Thank you. Take care. Be well — and look after each other.

Until this pandemic resolves and we can have our AGM, best wishes.
Ray

PS: George Luddington and I have spoken via the phone and he will initiate the shutdown for this season.
