Chedabucto Curling Chicken BBQ and Ducky Race 2017…

Chicken cookers…

It takes many hands to make something work; today was a prime example of that reality. The Chedabucto curling rink held another successful chicken BBQ with the chicken being barbecued perfectly — again. The stick pick and ducky race were also successful due to the generous contributions and support of many.

A great deal of energy and contributions went into making today such an enjoyable success.  I was going to list all that was done but after typing a lengthy list, I realized the this email would be extremely long thus I made use of my delete button.

Please accept my brevity with a big THANK YOU  to all who made today’s BBQ, stick-pick and ducky race such a success: workers, music providers, food preparers/servers, prize donors/sellers, ticket sellers/buyers, cleaners, labourers, picker-uppers — and those who purchased chicken and/or sticks and/or attended.

On behalf of all CCC members, my gratitude goes also to Neil DeCoff, Danny and Theresa Rodgers for their enjoyable music and songs. Thank you to the MODG Public Works for providing a porto toilet and garbage barrels for today’s needs.

Due to Mother Nature (the tide) being uncooperative, the ducky race was held later that night at 8:00.

The first three winners were as follows:

Joe Jamieson — 1st place — $500.00

Margaret Halloran — 2nd place — $200.00

Casey (Brian) Farrell — 3rd place — $100.00

Thank you to all who purchased tickets and my equal thanks to those who did the selling.

Special appreciation to Basil Mattie for making the tickets, Kay Chisholm for the tickets’ distribution and recording and to Wayne and Mable Hyam for recording the tickets sold today at the rink.

My sincere gratitude and best wishes to all.

Chicken BBQ / Ducky race tickets / Stick pick prizes 2017….

We are into the final week before next Sunday’s (the 23th) Chedabucto Curling Club’s chicken BBQ, ducky race and stick draw at the Reddys Hill location.

This message is for those who have yet to submit their sold ducky-race tickets and/or stick-draw prizes.

If you have yet to turn in all your ducky-race tickets, please do so early into this week so the numbers can be recorded before the hectic time on Sunday. (Unsold ducks will be removed from the race.)

You may leave your sold tickets and money with any of our executive members or at Maurice and Maureen Landry’s and we will get them to Kay for her recording before next weekend — or you can give yours directly to Kay.

With the stick-draw prizes, we are hopeful that each member will donate at least two prizes worth $5.00 or greater. The prizes can be whatever you believe would be something someone would be pleased to win. If you know of a business that might donate promotional items of suitable value, please ask.

The prizes also should be delivered early into this week so we can get the prizes to Bette Ann for her numbering. Prizes may be left with the above or at BA’s. If you have yet to deliver your prizes please do so by Wednesday so we can get them numbered as per the sticks’ numbers.

With last year’s sell out of the BBQ chicken, please do not wait until the last moment to get your chicken. Advanced paid orders may be made via Phil O’Regan or Lois MacDonald.

Next Sunday is our biggest fund-raiser of the year with many hands making it successful.

Thank you all.

Ducky tickets and stick-pick prizes….

Ducky tickets: Please return your sold tickets (and money) to Kay Chisholm, #3698 Havendale,  so she can record the ducks’ numbers on the large wall charts. If you can’t get them  to Kay, another member of the executive will be pleased to take them.

When ducky tickets are turned in at the last minute it really puts pressure on volunteers to record the sold ducks and for us to remove unsold ducks (tickets) from the ducky race.

Stick pick prizes: It is only 12 days until the chicken BBQ and the stick picks. Please get your donated stick-pick prizes to Bette Ann Corkum (stick pick coordinator) as soon as possible so she can coordinate them with the numbered sticks. For the stick pick to be successful we need your assistance.

Prizes and tickets can also be returned to Maurice & Maureen Landry, #11151 Highway 16 (on Boylston side of Boylston park, new house).

Thanks.

Stick pick prizes for Chedabucto CC’s Chicken BBQ….

It is 6 months until Christmas Day but only 4 weeks until the curling rink has its annual chicken BBQ, ducky race and stick picks on Sunday, July 23.

So as to make the curling rink’s stick pick successful we need prizes to present. Curling rink members, and hopefully some supporters, are asked to donate at least two items (a value of $5.00 or greater) towards the stick picks.  It is always an incentive to buy sticks when there are also several larger prizes on display for the lucky stick selectors; therefore, is you are able to donate or can obtain a higher-valued prize, that will be greatly appreciated.

In the past we have had members approach their work places or the businesses which are recipients of the member’s financial support and request items that proved to be very popular with the stick buyers. Many businesses have promotional items that they purchase solely to promote their businesses; therefore, if they want to provide those items to the stick pick via you, we will be please to accept.

The prizes can be given to any member of the executive by Wednesday, July 19, for the prizes’ numbering in preparation of the 23rd’s draws. I have Cc’d this email to the executive so you will be aware of those who oversee — with much appreciated help from members — the yearly operation of the Chedabucto Curling rink.

With my apologies to be making another request when you likely already have been contacted for assistance regarding other community endeavours seeking support — but — the curling rink’s chicken BBQ, ducky race and stick picks are major fundraisers that go directly towards the curling rink’s annual $30,000 operational requirements. (The financial requests for support towards the curling rink’s renovation/expansion are going directly into a separate curling rink bank account for the expenses of that worthwhile endeavour.)

Best regards,

Ray
