Ladies Valentine’s Funspiel foods needed by the male members of our club….

We need muffins, biscuits, cookies, and the like for this weekend’s (February 12/13) Chedabucto CC’s annual Ladies Valentine’s Funspiel.

Please donate if possible so the gals will be treated royally and the rest of us have something yummy to purchase. Reply back to me if you will contribute — regardless of your gender and whether or not you are curling.

At yesterday’s executive meeting it was decided that the hamburgers, snacks, and tea/coffee for the ladies would be free to registered Valentine’s Funspiel curlers. The hamburgers and their condiments, tea, coffee, milk, etc. will be paid for from the sponsorship money received from MacLeod Lorway Insurance which also will cover the costs to the rink for hosting this annual event. (The rest of us will pay for our tea/coffee, hamburgers, muffins, cookies, etc.)

Thank you. 🙂

Spare’s dues reminder….

At yesterday’s executive meeting I was requested to remind all that, if you need a spare and that person is not a paid-in-full member, the spare dues are $10.00 for that day’s curling. This $10.00 fee is required for each day that a non-member spare is curling.

It is required that — when you obtain a spare who is not a current member of our rink — you should inform that person of the spare’s dues fee. If a person frequently curls as a spare, should that curler pay a grand total of $210.00, that curler will then become a full member and the spare dues are no longer necessary for the balance of that curler’s curling season.

Payment of these required fees are to be made at the bar or to be given to one of the rink’s executive members.

With thanks.

Assistance to make next Curling 50/50 draw larger than $350….

Next Saturday, February 13, at our Ladies Valentine’s Funspiel, we will be drawing for the rink’s next 50/50 winner. If you want tickets I will be pleased to collect your money and put your name(s) on the tickets as per your instructions. It would be nice to have a larger prize than the

$350.00 as it was for our previous draw.

I collected our rink’s sold tickets today. The draw prize has grown to

$175.00 with one more week to sell/buy. With your valued assistance we can surpass that $350.00 draw prize.

Wednesday’s Juniors hot shoots, camera technology, and pizza certificates….

At the conclusion of last Wednesday’s session there was the usual “hot shoot” draws to the button for chocolate bars as rewards for the closest girl’s and boy’s rock to the pin.  The winners of the bars were Hanna Manthorne (4″) and Cody Carter (41″). Congratulations to Hanna and Cody. On Wednesday Donalda was back from coaching her Nunavut team in the Canadian Juniors Championship (won by Nova Scotia girl’s team from Chester). Phil O’Regan and Jim Muise were again pitching in to assist us to give the youngsters a good session. Thank you Phil and Jim.

Thank you also to the MODG Recreation Department for purchasing the Juniors’ snacks.

Next Wednesday Donalda plans to go technological with her instructions and use a camera to record each Junior as they slide our of the hack so as to let them see how their postures appears and to assist with instructions for sliding corrections where necessary.

As usual — parents are invited to attend to see the youngsters have their instructions.

Also on Wednesday, February 3, we had our awarding of pizzas to two of our Junior curlers for their successes with the selling of the rink’s 50/50 tickets.

The pizzas are being donated to Chedabucto’s Junior Curling League by AA Munro Insurance, Antigonish.  AA Munro Insurance’s much appreciated generosity and assistance is definitely serving as an incentive to encourage the Juniors to sell 50/50 tickets. The Juniors who received a Big G’ large pizza for selling the tickets (as awarded by books/tickets sold and selected by random draws) were Jenna Dort and Ryan Casey. My thanks goes to the Juniors, their parents, families and friends who assisted with the selling of the 50/50 tickets — and also to AA Munro Insurance for making our awarding of pizzas possible.

Because we missed a session due to a snow storm we will get back on our pizza-draws schedule by making the next selections on Wednesday, February 10. Parents are requested to ensure that the youngsters submit all sold tickets at next Wednesday’s session because our next 50/50 draw will be held on Saturday, February 13. My sincere thanks and best regards to all.

Extremely important for curling rink’s survival — please read entirely….

If you want to assist the Chedabucto Curling rink to survive, please read this email entirely.

We must have more assistance to convince businesses to have advertisement signs within the curling rink or for them to consider enlarging on what they already have in the rink’s ice area.

Since all of us do business — and spend our money — at multiple locations both in the Guysborough region and elsewhere, why don’t we politely but with a tad of persuasive power ask those businesses — that welcome our money — to purchase advertisement signs via their tax claimable funds if they already do not have their sign at the Chedabucto CC?

At our web site there is a copy of the “advertisement sign initial letter” at the beginning of the photos above “featured sponsors of the week” for you to read and maybe to deliver. Go to our web site www.chedabuctocc.ca and then to “our club” and then into “our sponsors” to see the current signs’ owners.

If your place of employment could also be persuaded to buy a sign that too will be a help. We do have members who are not retired therefore their employers could be sign owners.

Phil O’Regan puts a tremendous amount of energy and time into overseeing all that needs to be done to sustain the advertisement signs’ revenue for Chedabucto Curling but cannot do it all by himself. Let’s all pitch in to give Phil some of our time and energy and not assume he will get it all done alone?

With businesses like the car dealerships I believe that larger than a $100 sign should be our goals.   As I observe all the vehicles in the rink’s parking lot and see many around Guysborough I pause to consider the thousands of dollars generated from within our community for the car dealerships. All dealerships in Port Hawkesbury as well as the KIA in Antigonish do not have signs at Chedabucto CC. As food for thought: Where did you buy your vehicle(s) and how much estimated profit was made by that dealership from your purchase(s)? Does your vehicle’s dealer have a large sign in the rink or is that business’ advertisement sign absent?

The only two large signs are Martin Marietta and Central with the space for one more large sign over score board #2; but there are many spaces available on the side walls of the ice area.

The annual prices per size and locations: The sign price is $500 for the 2’X8′ over the score boards. The 2’X8′ size can be mounted on the side walls for $300.00. A 2’X2′ to cover the 7Up sign is only $200.00 and the side-wall signs are only $100.00 — with all signs requiring the HST. Please note that sponsors are required to pay for their own signs that we can have made by Waterline Graphix.

If you have questions or concerns please contact Phil or me  so TOGETHER WE CAN MAXIMIZE Chedabucto’s  advertisement signs’ revenue. Best regards with a plea for your vital assistance,

Ray
