Wayne has confirmed that he will be at the rink tonight at 6:45 PM for us to present him with a cheque that the club is giving him from money collected over the past week and a photo-op with his NS team jacket that he is picking up today. If anyone, who is not curling tonight, wants to come on by and wish him good luck and maybe raise a glass or two to celebrate not only his participation in the Canadian Senior Championships in Edmonton later this week but also St. Patrick’s Day, please do so….
Chedabucto CC historical postmark now available….
So as to inform the world via Canada Post that Chedabucto CC produces elite curlers, the Chedabucto CC historical postmark has been re-established at the Boylston Post Office. If you mail through Boylston, please request that the rink’s stamp cancellation be used. See photos below.

Donalda Mattie (left), coach of the Chedabucto Curling Club’s 2004 Junior Women Canadian Curling Champions: Team Mouzar, and Ray Bates, President, Chedabucto Curling Club, proudly display a letter bearing its commemorative Canada Post postmark cancellation stamp as applied by Boylston’s Post Master Brenda Hall (centre).

The pictorial postmark, believed to be the only such cancellation stamp existing in Canada, was originally obtained by the efforts of retired Post Master Carmen Barron but the stamp’s use fell to the wayside over the past decade. Through the effort of current Boylston Post Master Brenda Hall a revised stamp was obtained to continue to acknowledge that Canadian curling achievement and also to recognize a rural curling rink’s potential to produce elite curlers.

Winner of Chedabucto CC 50/50 March 14…
Congratulations to Margie Halloran, Guysborough , for being the March 14th winner of the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society’s (CAS) 50/50 draw. Margie must have had a touch-of-the-Irish luck with her winning since she also was our 50/50 winner for the November 21, 2014, draw. Margie bought her winning ticket — worth $388.00 — at the curling rink. (Thank you to all who bought 50/50 tickets — and to those involved in their selling.)
If you wish to purchase or to sell tickets: contact a club member, come to the curling rink, or buy tickets at Cutting Loose Hair Design & Tanning, Guysborough Pharmacy, Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s, Hart’s Grocery Store, Chedabucto Home Hardware, Guysborough Discount & Gifts, or at Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant. CAS sincerely thanks the before-mentioned businesses for their continued support. (The businesses’ sold-tickets are collected on Saturdays.)
CAS randomly draws its winning 50/50 ticket on Saturdays but — with the intention to have richer prizes — will occasionally be doing the selection after some weeks of selling. Our next 50/50 draw and final for this curling season is tentatively planned for March 28 at Chedabucto CC’s Memorial Bonspiel. You can refer to the curling rink’s website for updates on draws and the names of our winners. http://www.chedabuctocc.ca/5050-draw
Best regards — and Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🙂
