Yearly Archives: 2013

Registration forms for this season need to be filled in….

There are many 2013 /14 registration forms still outstanding. Of our 53 +/- members we have only 26 forms in the emergency-instruction binder.
Last year’s forms are not in the binder for the simple reason that they were not current regarding date and information.

The registration forms are very important to the Club’s operations as well as its possible liabilities. If you don’t help the club to have vital information the Club is possibly being stifled to a major degree with assisting your well being.

The intent of the forms is to tell us immediately and clearly what needs to be done should something happen to you, who to contact and also to instruct us with what to tell emergency responders. The forms provide supplementary information like your accurate and up-to-date contact information plus other relevant information such as members’ ages should that be necessary with grant applications.

The end section regarding volunteerism is only there for those who are able to volunteer; it does not need to be completed — but whatever extra that you can do is sincerely appreciated.

Forms are hanging within an envelope by the door to Ice 1. If still necessary, please complete yours ASAP and insert it into the appropriate section of the emergency binder located on top of the kitchen’s fridge.

Thank you and forgive me for being a pest but these vital forms have been in the club for over a month awaiting your attention.

Cheers
Ray

Turkey Shoot results….

Our 1st Turley Shoot in a few years took place last night, Nov. 29th, and was well attended. Four turkeys were shot down and won by Evelyne Jamieson, Holly Nahrebecky, Heather Manuel and Don Armstrong. Thanks goes out to all who attended and members who helped make this night a success.

Our 1st 50/50 draw winner of the season is….

Congratulations to Mary Cooke, Erinville , for being the November 29 winner of CAS’s 50/50 draw.  Mary’s winning ticket was worth $259.00.  (Thanks to all who bought tickets — and to those involved in the selling of the 50/50 tickets.)

With the wish to have a larger draw, CAS will occasionally be drawing at the usual 8:00 PM on Fridays but will be occasionally doing the draws after a couple weeks of selling. Refer to our website for updates on draws and the names of winners. www.chedabuctocc.ca

If you wish to purchase or to sell tickets: contact a club member, come to the club, or buy tickets at Gerard Hart’s Grocery Store, Boylston; Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s; Cutting Loose Hair Design & Tanning;  Chedabucto Home Hardware; Days Gone By Bakery & Restaurant; Guysborough Discount & Gifts;  Guysborough Pharmacy or Central Supplies (Guysborough).

CAS sincerely thanks the before-mentioned businesses for their continued support. (The businesses’ sold-tickets are collected mid-afternoons on Fridays.)

Juniors Curling being put on hold….

Unfortunately due to a serious lack of numbers and no one to coach the youngsters, the Juniors curling will be put on hold until after Christmas pending a sufficient numbers increase and available coaching.

With sufficient numbers we can try again to get a Juniors program going for this season; if not we will wait and try again next year.

This is a regrettable decision to be made but with an almost zero lack of responses to our word-of-mouth, circulated Juniors Curling posters, school announcements and emails there is no other choice at this time.

At last week’s Juniors registration evening at the Club the only people to show were me and Phil O’Regan.

If anyone would like to step forward and volunteer to assist to recruit youngsters and/or to find a person to recommend to the Executive who would be willing to coach the Juniors, please reply ASAP.

As is happening within many organizations — the numbers are down.

Unfortunately the Chedabucto CC is also a victim of our dwindling population.

Stick Curling Rules….

The Chedabucto Curling Club would like to encourage all members and non-members to take a try at Stick Curling. After our workshop on Nov. 16th of this year we were introduced to this new type of curling. It only requires two people with no sweeping needed. We, as a club, hope to introduce this type of curling on Friday nights this year and maybe next year add this as part of our Day/Night League curling. Stay tuned for more details to come. In the meantime check out the rules of Stick Curling at http://stickcurling.ca/stick-curling-rules
