Curling rinks’ presentation to MODG Council on Wednesday needs your attendance….

This Wednesday, January 7, the Chedabucto CC and the Canso CC will be making a combined presentation to the Municipality of the District of Guysborough’s Council to seek its greater financial support.

The Executives of the Canso CC and Chedabucto CC have both authorized Mary LeBlanc, Secretary of Canso CC, and me to present on behalf of the rinks to the MODG Council with the hope that Council will take a much greater supportive role within both curling facilities’ financial needs.

Council meets in the MODG Council chamber (the court room) this Wednesday at 4:30 PM with Mary and I commencing our overall 15 – 20 minute presentation shortly after Council convenes.

It is of critical importance to have — as many as possible — members and supporters of our district’s curlers and the two rinks present within the visitors’ gallery.  My logic is basic: if Mary LeBlanc and I can put in the time and effort to prepare for Wednesday’s presentation, surely members and supporters can give approximately 20 minutes of their time to be present so as to indicate their combined support for our mutual goal.

Thank you.

50/50 draws at Chedabucto

With the Chedabucto curling rink  having 52 adult and 21 junior members, and some of us already selling several books per draw, it should be much easier to have a 50/50 prize of $300 or more per draw.  We have been staggering the draw dates to help the prizes to grow and to increase its appeal to our ticket buyers. There are also members who have relatives selling tickets on Chedabucto’s behalf.

The next 50/50 draw for Chedabucto CC will be next Saturday, January 10th, at our Edgar Sceles Memorial Spiel.  It would be great to have a draw ticket worth hundreds of dollar but to do that each of us needs to sell a book or two per draw. We don’t expect our members to be the only buyers, with the contacts that all of us have it should be easily doable to sell tickets to others thereby enlarging the prize for each draw.

There are books of tickets available at the rink and I just happen to always have spares in my kit bag. As with all of the helpful things that our members and  supporters do on behalf of the rink, if we all can also sell the 50/50 tickets — that too will be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you. Everything you can do will help!

Happy New Year and a reminder of the Edgar Sceles…

Happy New Year everyone from the Chedabucto Curling Club. We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday. Time to get back into curling. Day and night league schedule resume this coming week. Take note of the Edgar Sceles Memorial Bonspiel happening next weekend Jan 9th and 10th. As of now we have one team entered that I know of. The sign-up sheet has been up at the club since the middle of December. You have until Thursday of this week to put a team and/or your name in for the spiel. Let’s get 2015 off to a good start. The more teams the better.
