Chicken barbeque, ducky race and stick pic…..

It takes many sailors to keep a ship afloat and today was a prime example of such a saying. The annual chicken BBQ, stick pic and ducky race went off 100%. The skies might have been grey, the air a tad moist but the event was superb.

From the stick pic to the BBQ to the ducky race and to all who enabled today to be another solid reason why this area is so darn fortunate to have the Chedabucto Curling Club Community Activity Society as one of its recreational options, you all did some right good!

Ducky tickets were sold far and wide by folks who simply did it because it needed to be done. To those sellers and buyers I send my thanks. To the three winners: Sharon Martin ($500.00), Ralph Bordon ($300.00) and Paige Mattie ($100.00) — and to all the others who kindly purchase the tickets: THANK YOU EACH AND ALL!

Thanks to the members and supporters who donated prizes for the stick pic; that too was a popular success.

As for the BBQ chicken; what can I say? Would delicious be sufficient? Once again the cooks did a fantastic job!

We only have slightly more that 3 months before the curling ice go back in. Have a safe, healthy and enjoyable balance of your summer.

Best regards,

Ray

Ducky race time — estimation….

After inspecting today’s high tide next to the rink, observing the water’s depth and then allowing for a time difference between Thursday’s tide time and Sunday’s estimated 11:20 AM high tide — the anticipated and estimated approximate ducky race time will be probably between 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM on Sunday.

The BBQ is slated to go for 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM — or as long as supplies last — therefore we should be able to squeeze the ducky race reasonably close to the BBQ’s commencement. Face painting and hot dogs for the kids will be available also with the help of our MODG Recreation summer students.

This is the rink’s annual major fund raiser therefore all support is vital and very much appreciated.

Hopefully I’ll see you on Sunday.

Ray

For those who still have ducky tickets and your support for Sunday is critical…..

All tickets — sold or not — must be returned by this Friday (July 17) so their numbers can be recorded on Saturday as we prepare for Sunday’s ducky race. You may leave tickets with Holly at the Boylston Post Office, at my home or at Kay’s. Please remember that this weekend’s BBQ and ducky race plus the games of chance are our biggest fund raiser of the year therefore your support is critical.

PS As of today it is very possible that we will be putting in the ducks at 11am on Sunday…. We will keep you posted. Final decision will be made on Saturday…

Get your name on the wall for buying ducky tickets…..

Will your ducky tickets’ names be displayed on the wall chart?  So as to be certain that the sold ducky tickets are recorded and any unsold ducks removed from the ducky race, all sold ducks’ numbers (tickets) are placed according to their owners’ name onto the large wall chart at the rink for the day of the ducky race.

Folks are submitting their sold tickets and moneys to Kay, to me or to Holly (at the Boylston Post Office) so the numbers can be recorded onto the wall chart by Kay.

If you need more tickets to sell or want to buy tickets, let me know. (902.533.2528)

Our hope is to have as many tickets as possible turned in by this Friday (July 10) so they can be recorded thereby lessening the rush to get them listed for the ducky race.

If you still have tickets to sell or to turn in, please do so as soon as possible.  If your sold tickets and money have been submitted — thank you.

Cheers 🙂
