Well another successful bonspiel has come and gone. This past weekend we had our annual Memorial Bonspiel with 7 teams competing. Thank you to all who participated and came out to watch. Two teams were undefeated in all 3 of their games. But in the end it was Team Jamieson with more points than Team Connolly. In 3rd place with a 2-1 record was Team DeCoff. Thanks go out to Ray Bates for his efforts to fill the prize table with such short notice and to his efforts in our 50/50 prize. Thank you to Labatt Brewing Company, (Tim Macumber), Municipality of the District of Guysborough (Angie Tavares), Cook’s Gas Bar & Robin’s, Guysborough (Fraser Cook), Martin Marietta Materials Canada Ltd., Mulgrave (Mike Shea), Ross Screenprint, Antigonish (Simon Hillyard), and Central Home Improvements, Antigonish for their help with prizes and to Days Gone By Bakery, Guysborough (Katie Pellerin) for the great lasagna and rolls for lunch. Thanks to all who helped with the ice: Phil, George, Maurice, Wilfred, Gerry, and Brian. To the help with kitchen we would like to thank Phil, Maurice, Maureen, Marion, Holly, and Kay… thanks also to all who donated food and snacks for both Friday and Saturday. Much appreciated… Next up is the Cecil Boyd Trophy games vs Canso CC on Mar. 4th and 5th.

Memorial Bonspiel Team list and shcedule….
The Memorial Bonspiel — in memory of the many people who enabled the Chedabucto Curling Club to exist — is this Friday night and Saturday day.
We will be having snacks and munchies on Friday night (free) with muffins, biscuits, tea and coffee on Saturday morning ($1.00). The Saturday lunch will be delicious newly-made lasagna plus a fresh roll
($4.00 total); both created by Days Gone By Bakery.
We need donated munchies and snacks for Friday evening that will be offered at no cost to those in attendance. If you can provide something for Friday night and/or the Saturday coffee/tea/snacks please do.
On Saturday morning we want to have muffins, biscuits, etc. available with coffee or tea. Please donate something for Saturday morning so the rink will make some profit to cover the milk, cups, etc. The charge will be a loonie ($1.00) for the Saturday morning tea/coffee/snack. (The executive was directed by the membership at last October’s semi-AGM to charge for bonspiels’ muffins/ biscuits and hot beverages.)
Thank you
Ray

We are following the popular format that was used at the Edgar Sceles Memorial — sign your name and preferred position(s) for the teams’ makeup.
The senior Juniors are invited to play. For all Juniors, we are planning our Adult/Juniors Funspiel for March 25.
More information is on our rink’s website. (www.chedabuctocc.ca )

Draw prizes needed for the Memorial Bonspiel February 25……
With the moving of our Memorial Bonspiel to Feb 24/25 and the Skins Cash Spiel going to the Memorial’s former weekend (March 31 – April 2), my solicitation for promotional items for the Memorial’s draw prizes has been put into a “rush mode”. I had planned on having 6 weeks to find items for the Memorial Bonspiel and not just a week and a half.
It would be extremely helpful if you would check with the locations where you do business to see if those places have a couple of suitable promotional items that they would donate as prizes for the Memorial’s curlers. You can assure those businesses that Chedabucto CC will advertise that they helped us via their support.
With all of us doing business over a wide area, to my way of thinking, there must be businesses that would donate one or two or more items that we can use as prizes at the Memorial Bonspiel’s presentation on February 25.
If the response for donations results in more items than curlers, the surplus items will be placed in storage for the stick pick at the ducky race this summer.
Please let me know what you can gather so I can record each and prepare an accurate support acknowledgement.
Thank you.
