50/50 and yearly expenses for Chedabucto CC….

The next 50/50 draw will happen on Friday, the 17th, at 8:00 PM. The plan is to have the draw in conjunction with sociable stick-delivery curling matches provided we can gather the necessary teams.

With the 50/50 ticket sales — the Club needs all the support it can get since the tickets have evolved into a major fund-raiser. If you are able to sell tickets or know of someone who will move some for you, there are tickets available at the Club’s bar. (The bigger the prizes the more all will smile.)

The tickets, like the Club’s dues, bonspiels, bottle sales, bar profits, ducky race, etc. are only providing a portion of the revenue to cover the yearly expenses for the Club.  What is making our Club succeed are the numerous avenues that we take to raise funds. There are some endeavours that people jump on board to assist and then there are those where some are hesitant.  As long as we all do something to pitch in, at the end of the day, the bills are paid and the facility is maintained.

To give you a quick overview of what it costs to run the Club for 12 months I share the following:

Let’s help Chedabucto CC to acquire more Associate (Social) Members…

Since the Chedabucto CC’s Associate (Social) Membership category is becoming very popular and growing steadily in numbers, the recommendation was made at the January 6, 2014, Chedabucto CC Executive meeting that this email be sent to all.
Past members, their spouses and non-past members can enjoy the Club’s many activities by becoming an Associate (Social) Member thus having all the rights and privileges that is applicable to that category of membership.
The Associates will be able to freely attend all Club functions, to purchase from the bar without the NS Liquor Commission’s requirement of being signed in by a Club member, to socialize with great individuals and to enjoy all the darn good curling matches via the two overhead cameras/monitors that the Club now has thanks to the late Jim Drysdale’s donation prior to his untimely death. Former members (and their spouses) can also continue to assist the Club as do all of our current members.
Should you be interested or know of others who might consider joining under the Associate (Social) membership classification, please invite all to apply. The dues for Social membership is only $25.00 (tax included) per year.

Best regards,
Ray

Associate (Social) members are described within the following excerpt from our Club’s by-laws: Clause 2 – Membership (B)     6.   Associate (Social)  Members shall be persons 19 years of age or older subject to regular approval provisions who may attend the Club activities.  Associate (Social) members shall not have voting or curling privileges.

Stick delivery games for January 17th?

We are hoping to organize two stick-delivery games on the 17th of January for 7:00 PM by stick-curling rules. With the next 50/50 draw being on the 17th at 8:00 PM it will have some activity going on at the Club for the winning ticket’s selection.
The proposed games will be on both ice surfaces and use stick-delivery rules: 2 players per team, 6 rocks, 6 ends, no sweeping and approximately 1 hour in length. (I think I’m correct with those facts.)
Friday nights have become great for additional Club social occasions thus it will be nice to continue to have something that people can partake in or simply enjoy watching.
For those who are currently using the delivery stick — or are thinking of using one — or have already used the stick-delivery method, this will be an excellent opportunity to continue to enjoy curling.
The thought is to NOT charge registration fees since it will be members curling. If non-members are curling a nominal fee will be charged to cover the Club’s liability insurance. With no registration there will be no prizes — just bragging rights and a photo shot for the two victorious teams and the opportunity for the winners to buy the losers a drink from the bar.
Please talk it over with others to shake out 8 curlers who will use the delivery sticks on Friday evening, January 17th, for approximately 1 hour games.
A sign-up sheet is on Ice 1’s door .
Cheers and good curling, 🙂
Ray
